VHS : NOVA/Frontline - What's Up With the Weather?
Anyone who teaches climate change or who has an interest in this topic owes it to themself to watch this documentary. Unlike An Inconvenient Truth (which I also recommend), this movie presents both sides of the global warming debate ("CO2 causes warming"..."CO2 is plant food"). Through interviews with some of the leading climate change scientists and climate "skeptics", it presents the scientific evidence for climate change and the arguments for and against human-caused global warming. I imagine that climate change skeptics would cliam that the contrary evidence is minimized but the documentary raises several important questions and points out what we know and what we don't know. It is especially interesting to watch this video several years after it was made and to see how careful and conservative ... Read More

VHS : Frontline: The Gulf War (2pc)
This four-hour documentary should be a must for every educator from high school through a Master's program.
Very well balanced - doesn't seem to give a political "slant" in it's reporting. Looks for the truth in what happened.
Doesn't rely on any one source for information, but uses a multitude of mediums to tell the story - including Iraqi video.
I recommend this to EVERYONE who has an interest in the Gulf War!

VHS : Frontline - The Man Who Knew
A great documentary that everyone should see. It is amazing how much information this man pieces together and how the FBI ignores such an imminent threat. John O'Neill later takes a job as head of security in the WTC and unfortunately loses his life in the disaster. For those of you who don't want to pay $40 plus, PBS has this video for sale for $25 including shipping at http://www.shoppbs.org/product/index.jsp?productId=1405297#related

One of the most powerfully articulate and moving documentaries I have ever seen. It is a wonderful piece of film-making which manages to educate and stimulate the viewer ideas and perceptions at the same time. I really feel this film should be part of every High School student's manadatory social studies curriculum.

VHS : Frontline: The Merchants of Cool (PBS Educational Video Series)
Mtv, the worst thing to happed to rock and roll since the ideals and moralistic views of the 1950's, has found a new way of capitalizing off teens. Youth dread conforming(as if theres something wrong with doing what you find enjoyable even if someone else happens to do the same thing). As a result many attempt to be as radical as possible in an effort to be set apart by the rest of society(as if wearing all black with clothes pins from hot topic is expressing themselves). Mtv and other corperations' response has been to shovel out merchandise to supply this demand for social unacceptability be it clothing, violent music, or a new carson daily with fingernails painted black. The youth have stupidly done exactly what they set out not to do-conform. They have conformed by conforming to a subculture. Now, lets not ... Read More
