VHS : Catnapped: The Movie (Dub)
Catnapped! was created, written, and directed by Takashi Nakamura. His other notable work was serving as the animation director on Akira.

Catnapped! takes place in a location called Banipal Witt, and its populated by anthropomorphic cats. It is ruled by Buburina, a cruel witch princess who has the ability to turn any living thing into a balloon by simply touching it. She kidnaps a dog named Papadoll, who she intends to use to take over the world. The dog's owners, two kids named Toriyasu and Meeko, must try to turn him back to normal and return him to their world.

The film clocks in at 75 minutes, and I have to give credit to Nakamura for utilizing this short time to the fullest to tell his story. While my children enjoyed watching this film, I felt as if I was watching ... Read More

Got this movie my mistake from Blockbuster, there was wrong DVD in the box. However, a great story. But one thing is bad about this movie there is way too much blood. For no particular purpose. If the movie has less crappy scenes with blood streaming out of heads like water fountains, the movie would perhaps win an oscar. Movie like this can only end up on a pile of crap. A horor? Come on. Ridiculous. Therefore 5-2=3 stars for too much blood.

Four former Doctor Whos are reunited, so that in itself is a treat. The four are Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy, a.k.a. Doctors 3, 5, 6, and 7. Two other Who alumni who appear are Nicola Bryant, who played Peri, the Sixth Doctor's assistant, but here, is Baker's co-worker and love interest, and Michael Wisher, best known for providing Dalek voices as well as playing Davros in "Genesis Of The Daleks" and appearing in "Terror Of The Autons," "Carnival Of Monsters," and "Planet Of Evil." Wisher plays the Secretary of State for the Environment here.

VHS : Dragon Ball Z - The Saiyan Conflict (Boxed Set I - Episodes 1-25)
I've only just finished completing my DBZ DVD collection (nearly 100 DVDs, whew!) and it took FOREVER to track some of them down, but thankfully the Saiyans saga was not so elusive. I've started rewatching them at the very beginning and they are just such classic entertainment. The Saiyan saga may be rudimentary compared to the later sagas, but the later sagas would not have been possible were it not for these earlier sagas where the writers were able to learn and grow so much.

I respect the people who prefer the uncut editions, but I much prefer the cut ones. They have a huge nostalgia factor for me, as these were the episodes that I watched on TV when I first discovered DBZ. The cut versions are shorter, obviously, which I also appreciate when each DVD is over an hour long (that means I have 100+ hours of viewing ahead ... Read More
