This was my first "monster" film. I can remember the stir that it caused when it was first released and remember that my mother would not allow me to attend. Now telling an ten year old boy that there is "forbidden fruit" at the local cinema, and telling him that there was no way he was going to attend, is a pretty sure fire way of getting that kid in the theater, one way or another. Yup, I went. (I fear this is indicative of a character trait, or flaw, if you will, that is with me still, after all these years). You have to remember that this was in 1954 and things were quite different. We lived in a very small town, Southern and quite conservative, and ticket prices at the time were .10 cents for kids under twelve, and there was no rating system. Anyway, this movie absolutely terrified ... Read More

Oh, this was a funny time. Movies usually seen only on the nascent HBO. This film harkens back to the late 50s/early 60s b/w Corman classics, with what Frank Zappa aptly called "Cheepnis". My favorite momment was when one of the beasts encounters a bikini-clad gal on the beach, apparently he needed to pull her top off in order to get his amphibious rocks off. And he didn't even call her later.

Ignore the bad reviews and buy this movie!!
This was a thoroughly enjoyable flick! It's just like a "Tales From The Crypt" episode with that mix of horror and humour. Angie Everhart is one damn hot and sexy vampire and does a superb job as Lillith, the head vampire! Never really was a fan of Dennis Miller but he is great with the one-liners and I really enjoyed his presence in this!
A story about a bordello masquerading as a creepy funeral home, with Angie Everhart and a bunch of naked vampire hookers! What more can you want?! This was a really fun movie!! I rented this years ago, then went back and bought it I loved it so much! Blows away many of the newer horror crap that's out there today! How come Hollywood can only come up with remakes these days??
This was a well put together fun, sexy, ... Read More

How could anyone not love this thing? After all, it has Bela Lugosi, Vampira, Chriswell and a cast of extraterrestrial queens. To top it off it was produced by the 'worst' director of all time, Ed Wood.

Of course it's terrible. If approached anything like cinematic quality it would have been bad. As it is, however, it's terrific, especially if you've knocked down three or four beers in advance. The sets are cheesy, the special effects a joke, the acting ridiculous and the jokes over the top. Aliens, the chief of whom is a total swish, are angry at earth people for not recognizing that they are real. They also believe that earthlings--despite the fact that we are incredibly stupid, juvenile idiots--are about to develop technologies that will destroy the Universe. Therefore, in an equal measure of ... Read More

i have watched this romp of a movie at least 100 times. this is romeros masterpiece.the thing that gets me as how above average the acting is. not oscar calliber of course. but for the genre, very very good. romeros style in editing is also unique. is cut and paste style works well with the anxiety of the film. the opening in the news room with the blood red carpeted walls, is definitly a forshadowing of the violence to come. imediatly your swept into the struggle for sanity as everyone in the news room is confused and filled with anxiety with what is happenning. and people struggling to comprehend there role in all of this, the basic survival insticts are taking over[just like the zombies instinct to feed and stay ,alive? well, dead alive anyway.and our 2 heroes in military garb. one black and one white and one tall and ... Yes i do. Can anybody really name a good monster movie in the last 10 years, aside from king kong or maybe something from the Aliens series that is beeter than this late 1970's man in a monster bear suit flick? I doubt it..unless your a superficial, shallow, has no film history education type video game absorbed fool..ah, there are so many of you nowadys..HaHaHa.

I saw this when i was 10, and recently dug in my collection to watch it today. Basically a giant mutated bear terrorizes allot folks in the maine wilderness...no not corny at all...man, this was what "Monster Movies" used to be all about.

Very, very good acting...a young Armand assante, Talia shire and Richard A. Dysart....plus robert foxworth who always kind of annoyed me, but a good actor as well. So I ask you so called "film experts"..with ... Read More

This is not a zombie movie (warning: spoiler will follow). Even with its bad acting and horrible lighting (could be the tape) this is an at times enjoyable mystery which uses the zombie theme to throw the viewer off the track of what is really happening. A group of tourists take a visit to an island apparently in the Carribean (I know; not much more specific than saying an island surrounded by water) where they take a bus to an outdoor ritual apparently being performed to raise a zombie. A commotion occurs during the ritual sending the tourists hurrying back to the bus only to find the driver and the distributor cap missing. They decide to trek to a house one of the tourists recalls seeing on the way to the ritual to hopefully call for help. They are pursued by a creature dressed as a bush (no, I do not know what kind of bush). One by one ... Read More

This movie's tag as one of the worst ever made is worth paying attention to, but it's a bit misleading, too. As with those other worst movies - most notably Ed Wood's "Plan Nine" - such a grandiose insult tells you there must be something going on to make the thing worth talking about at all.

Yes, its monster, the Ro-Man, is put together from a bad ape costume and a deep sea diving helmet. Yes, it looks like it was shot on some empty hillside in the San Fernando Valley, its only set being the partial concrete foundation left over from some building removed years before. And yes, the inserted sequences of stop-motion clay dinosaurs and real lizards make for a baffling kind of narrative non-sequitur. But, despite how cheaply it's done, there's a certain . . . care . . . put into this movie's production.

First of all, its ... Read More

VHS : Night of the Living Dead -- 30th Anniversary Edition
This is the movie that started it all. If you love horror movies, and more specifically, if you love zombie movies you owe a lot of your enjoyment to this film. Shocking for it's time and still holds up. What is most important about this film is that it gave director and creator George Romero a path to make the movies he wanted to make. For that alone it deserves immense respect as one of the all time classic films. 5 stars because I can't give 5 million stars.
