VHS : Vision of Escaflowne 1 (Sub)
If you've seen Escaflowne on TV, you can't experience the real thing. The Vision of Escaflowne is the uncut version of the TV show shown here in the states. The animation is movie quality, the voice acting is the best, and the storyline progressively gets better (and the 1st episode blew me away! It was NEVER shown in the US!) When I told people I had bought the 1st volume, I had a huge waiting list for it- before I even got it! And now, the only thing to do is buy the box set! It's that good.

After watching the first 4 episodes, I was totally hooked and so due to this fact I was able to prevent a major crisis from happening when I couldn't decide between Rouroni Kenshin and Escaflowne. In this volume Van is taken prisoner by Dilandau (hang the spelling) and it's up to Allen and his 7 remaining knights plus Hitomi to save the day! Then it's off to the capital of Asturia where they get some rather disturbing news, and we get to meet Princess Millerna. Next, Van and Hitome are forced to flee from a burning Palas ( Asturia' capital) and dodge the bullet yet again. Finally, Hitome runs into a bit of a problem when she, Merle, and Van attack an energist mining site in which she discovers something very interesting about Van. I believe that this is such an attracting anime because ... Read More

If you haven't seen Escaflowne yet, you're deprived! The series starts with Hitomi who is going through a typical teenage experience of having a huge crush on a cutie at her high school. But her world turns upside down when she literally runs into Van Fanel, the King of Fanelia on a planet called Gaea. Some forces no one is aware of takes Hitomi and Van to Gaea so they may fulfill -- or should I say go against -- their fates. The series has an excellent story, incredible characters, superb animation, and gorgeous music -- a real complete package. If you're not a fan of anime, you should start with this series. If you are, don't miss the truly great anime of all time.

This is one of the best Anime I have ever witnessed. Not only is the Anime in general great, but this is one of my favorite videos of the series. Episode 14 is, in my opinion, the best episode of the entire series. Not only is the battle spectacular, but the events that are caused by it are just mind-boggling. I say, get this video right away! ^_^

This series keeps you on the edge of your seat, not wanting it to end. If you like the first few episodes, just wait, the story actually gets better and better as it goes along (yes, that IS possible)! The character depth and development is amazing, and the love-triangles are perfect for any romance fan. Moving and unpredictable plot, fantastic character designs, top-notch art quality, music by Yoko Kanno, awesome voice acting, and action like you've never seen before in animation. Most likely the very best anime (Japanese animation) series available in the US so far, period! If you only buy one anime title, this is the one to get.

While trying to beat her track record of 13 seconds, a light with a boy in it appears before teen schoolgirl Hitomi. He says a dragon is coming, which ... Read More

The greatest anime in history wraps up with the final 3 episodes. In episode 24, as the Allied Forces prepare to battle Zaibach, Hitomi finds herself back on earth. Meanwhile, someone from Allen's past comes to see him. In episode 25, the final battle begins. One of the Alliance members have a secret weapon, but will it end the war? In the final episode, the Absolute Fortune Zone is created, but leads to startling results. After engaging in his final great battles with Dilandau and Allen, Van must save Hitomi in the Zaibach capital. These 3 episode wrap up this wonderful anime in a great way. There's quite a few plot twists, and the final episode leaves the series open for a sequel.

I prefer the original stuff better, but this had a pretty good plot and subplot flow. And it's a little easier to watch ALL of it when you hear them in English, instead of reading the subtitles.
