VHS : The Lion King
The best Disney animated film ever...This film had it all, it was funny, emotional, had family drama, and above all, great animation and songs! My personal favorite character is Rafiki, the Baboon! I still cant forget the line he says to Simbe, "Past can hurt, but as I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it!" it is so true! i loved Zazu's weirdness, and shenzi's humor, above all, i loved Pumba's innocence and Timon's intelligence! In short, i found the film the best film ever... The voice cast is also great. Mathew did complete justice to Simba, and what can I say about Mufasa, He is the best King, and dad anyone can ever get! The movie is not meant for kids, its meant to teach every adult a lesson...to find our place in the great "Circle Of Life". Thank-You Disney For The Lion ... Read More

VHS : Schoolhouse Rock! - Grammar Rock
I grew up in the 70's and 80's watching School House Rock. My favorites have always been "Interjection," "Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here," "Unpack Your Adjectives." Today, I teach College Prep Writing at a community college, and I introduce my students to the parts of speech with this video. And when I do, I always hear the comments from the back of the room, "Oh my God, she's even singing along." These songs work wonders even for adults. Later on, when we get more in depth, all I have to say is "Lolly Lolly" and students start singing themselves.

VHS : The Little Mermaid II - Return to the Sea
Like most people, I love "The Little Mermaid". It was the first Disney Princess movie I ever watched and started my love of all the princesses. When I heard of "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea", I had to see it. I thought it would be good, but not as good as the original. Well, I was wrong. I enjoyed this movie very much and I've watched it many times. The story is similar to "The Little Mermaid", but not completely. I spotted many differences between "The Little Mermaid" and "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea".

Personality

In the original movie, Ariel is a strong-willed mermaid with a passion to live on land. She is very brave and wants to leave her home because she falls in love with Eric and is willing to do anything to be with him. She is a confident 16-year ... Read More

VHS : Aladdin
Sure, there are the classics like CINDERELLA and SLEEPING BEAUTY. There are Pixar marvels like WALL-E and FINDING NEMO (which I adore). But for me, the real golden age of Disney came during the time when Alan Menken made animated musicals. POCHAHONTAS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, and ALADDIN are some. These are the real Disney classics.

I recieved this as an unexpected Christmas present several years ago, and was pleasantly surprised. I watched the film and the special features. They impressed me beyond compare. Besides the glorious film itself, the special features are some of the very best I've seen, and that's saying a lot. THREE WISHES, the comprehensive making-of documentary, is a joy to watch. The cartoon of the Genie's round-the-world vacation is short but sweet, ... Read More

VHS : Cinderella (Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection)
Cinderella is the perfect Disney film. Another childhood favorite mine and I am so glad all these classic fairytales are now avaiable on DVD. Cinderella is pure magic, how can you not love this timeless tale? Those wicked step-sisters and self-centered step-mother, jeez you just want to step on their animated faces! Great family film of boy meets girl, girl loses glass slipper, boy finds glass slipper, and the two live happily ever after, aww.

VHS : Alice in Wonderland (Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection)
Early on in Walt Disney's career, he had wanted to tell the story of Alice in Wonderland. As early as 1923 he had begun a series of short films, which featured a young girl in the role of Alice and integrated her live-action performance with animation. So it's no surprise that he wished to make a full-length film based upon Lewis Carroll's classic stories. What is a surprise is that, in 1951 when the film was finally released, Walt Disney was extremely disappointed. He felt that the film lacked an emotional center and that the characters were weak and unmemorable. Perhaps his discontentment was caused by his high expectations or maybe Walt simply didn't understand that the film was a masterpiece, but whatever the reason for his disliking the film, it has gone on to become a classic (of all of the films made ... VHS : Monsters, Inc.
"Monsters,Inc" is one of PIXAR's cleverest creations. It's about the Cyclopean Mike (Billy Crystal) and the shaggy Sully (John Goodman) whose career is to make children scream, keeping Monsteropolis powered. They collect children's screams. However, their city is having an "energy crisis" since children aren't as easily scared. Sully has been employee of the month--but the jealous salamander Randall (Steve Buscemi) will do anything to get ahead. Then,a little girl named Boo scares Monsterpolis... On the way, Sully develops paternal feelings for Boo,and it's learned that the monsters fear children.

"Monsters,Inc" has plenty of in-jokes--from the Harryhausen's sushi bar to an opening like "The Right Stuff." It's a clever, poignant movie. Mike is delightfully neurotic, thinking up that he'll release the ... Read More
