VHS : Manufacturing Consent - Noam Chomsky and the Media
This is more than a film, "Manufacturing Consent" has long been a tool of peace workers who wanted to inform others of the shameful U.S. policies toward countries like East Timor. This film's segment regarding the U.S. support of Indonesia's invasion of East Timor was used to raise awareness and galvanize support for the independence struggle that took place on that island nation, culminating in its becoming a member of the United Nations and a pair of East Timorese winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

Beyond that, "Manufacturing Consent" has exposed the institutional flaws of a media that is owned and sponsored by corporate powers. This theme is further explored by the director, Mark Achbar, in his equally enlightening documentary The Corporation. In the several years since it was ... Read More

Brother's Keeper (Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, 1992)

The saga of the Ward Boys remains, fifteen years later, one of the outright weirdest murder cases in American history. The Ward Boys were four brothers wholived outside Munnsville, NY, a bucolic upstate town. Their lives were turned upside down when William, the oldest brother, died. His brother Adelbert was arrested for his murder. Not out of the ordinary, you say? It becomes so when you realize that Adelbert, the youngest of the bunch, was fifty-nine when he stood trial.

Berlinger and Sinofsky seem to side with the prosecution's original thesis, that the killing was an act of euthanasia. Bill Ward was, evidently, suffering from a terminal disease, and had gotten to the point where life was nothing but pain. Thus, the original ... Read More

VHS : Lincoln Assassination (2pc)
I have always been a history buff. This period (Civil War Era) in particular. Thus, I read and/or watch EVERYTHING I can get my hands on pertaining to the subject. This 2-video documenary is by FAR the most informative program I've watched in relation to the murder of our 16th President.
The first tape pretty much sets the stage, Introducing the "cast of characters". Explaining the emotions of the time. It shows John Wilkes Booth was not simply "some crazy actor", as he is generally portrayed. He was not insane. Passionate, and VERY dramatic (he was a well-known actor, after all!) Hot-tempered and irrational. All the above. But not insane.
Anyway, the first tape details his original plan to capture Lincoln in order to bargain for the release of Confedarate prisoners. Well the war ended, And Lincoln announced ... Read More

VHS : Coverup - Behind the Iran-Contra Affair
Democrats seem to be bent on making sure that Regan gets discredited in some way. He won the Cold War through a nonliberal strategy, and this obviously upsets them because it proved them wrong once again. I have been reading through some of these other reviews and some moron is comparing Iran/Contra to Bush/Enron. Do you idiots know anything about anything??? All the people involved in the Enron scandal have been prosecuted under the Bush administration. On top of that, the whole scandal occurred under the watch of the great Bill Clinton. It is as if liberals look at the facts, and then come to the most illogical conclusion possible. If there is a serious problem that arises under a certain administration, you can usually say that it did not start under him, but on presidents past. Not to say presidents have no responsibility ... I'm a cousin of Evelyn Nesbit, so this tape was of great interest to me. But even if i wasn't related, i would have still enjoyed it. PS. I have an Aunt Rebecca that looks strikingly like Evelyn.

VHS : Marilyn Files
I have purchased this video from amazon.com twice in an attempt to get the real thing. What they are selling is not Robert Slazer's "The Marilyn Files" but some sort of pirated A&E special with poorly intercut interviews with Robert Slatzer and a brief interview at the end (which cuts off half-way through) with Marilyn's foster sister Eleanor "Bebe" Goddard.

What is being sold here is a poorly pirated copy of some television special. The label is hand-typed and the cover is a poor black and white Xerox of the orginal box. The only thing good about it is the feature clips (most of them quite rare rare) of Marilyn, and Elton John's "Candle in the Wind," which plays, in some form or another, throughout the feature. It runs like a poorly pirated copy with tracking and sound problems. The editing is abysmal.

VHS : Biography - John Gotti: A Mafia Story
This movie was okay. I cant really say I loved it though. John Gotti in some ways is a lot like the character that is played in the movie but on the other hand, they are some what different. I've done a lot of research on John Gotti and his family and I have to say, I did expect more from the film. It covers a lot of things a true Gotti fan already knows and could get boring at times.

VHS : Best Evidence (Coll)
After reading the book Best Evidence I contacted the author and got a recommendation for this video. I am glad I saw it. I think it takes tremendous guts to dig up the dirt in this government and expose it. The book is very detailed and the most relevant parts of it are emphasized in the video. I recommend the revealing book by David S. Lifton as well as this video. It is all so disturbing.

Two sets of medical doctors see two different scenarios and the brain is missing from the cranium in one scenario. Not the typical autopsy in any respect. Look at the inconsistencies and try your hand at offering an explanation for them. Unfortunately no one seems to care anymore.
