VHS : Witch Hunt (1994)
I have been waiting for years for this movie to make it to dvd.To say that this movie is quirky is an understatement.
It follows a detective played beautifully by Dennis Hopper as he tries to solve a murder. What is unusual is
that the average Joe uses magic as part of his daily routine,i.e.want to take out your trash, simply think it
and its done or want to be beautiful have someone cast
a spell and its done.
Hopper vehemently refuses to use magic eventhough he knows how.We get to follow him as meets a cast of quirky characters who use magic and try to help him solve the
murder.
Its just a fun movie.

VHS : Rasputin (1996)
This is a beautifully depicted film. Yes, it is based on fact, but I am sure than no movie can really accurately described what really went on in the lives of the Romanovs. However, as a movie, its really brilliant. Its utterly mesmerizing, and it really is all thanks to Alan Rickman. He is utter perfection in this. His portrayal of the infamous Rasputin is genius and almost creepy. The likeness is undeniable. This is a dramatic film and I really wish a proper dvd would finally come out.

VHS : Sex and the City - The Complete Second Season
Te second season of SATC gives us a better history of the girls and what their characters are like. They fall into their roles as the story lines get better. It becomes more about friends rather than Carrie doing research for her column. A must have for any SATC fan.

VHS : The Sopranos - The Complete Third Season
Wow, season 3 of the Sopranos is a memorable one for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous 2 seasons, but by season 3 every storyline, every line that was muttered by a character, every shocking or subtle development, was a stroke of genius.

In this season, the cast and writers alike, SHINE. Here we really start getting to the meat of things. And it's nothing if it's not like riding a fast-paced thrilling rollercoaster. One you will not want to get off of.

I highly recommend the Sopranos series. I am not a big action or mafia movie goer, nor am I big into the violence...but something within this show is bigger than all of that. Something about family and a persons will to survive. Much of what these characters go through, we all experience on some level or other. Don't ... Read More

VHS : The Sopranos - The Complete Fourth Season
First, let me say I love the series, even though season 4 left a bunch of us saying "WTF was that?" allot. It was still better than most everything else out there.
My issue is with the DVD's themselves. I had numerous problems with skipping, stopping and general bad play issue with this season of DVD's. After paying $50 for these I was not expecting this kind of quality. Of course we had been watching the series in sequence so by the time I found this it was too late to return it. I even checked to see it they may be counterfeit but from all appearances they appear to be genuine. Was I the only one who had this issue?
In any case, starting season 5 now and they appear to at least work properly....

VHS : Goodnight Moon
This is the most soothing, calming, beautiful thing ever made for TV. Aaron Neville singing Brahms Lullaby, with the incredibly sweet animation that goes with it from Ink Tank, will melt the coldest heart and bring tears to your eyes; that alone is worth the price. This whole tape worked like a drug on our then-2 year old, who otherwise had a lot of anxiety over bedtime. (We did skip the "Nightmare in My Closet" segment for a long while, though.)

Regarding the New York-centric comment from one reviewer, I never even noticed this, really, & I'm from TN/NC/VA; a number of the kids interviewed are actually from Durham, NC.

What the kids have to say is almost always sweet and insightful (there is one precocious girl featured in one segment who seems to know/think that what she's saying ... Read More
