VHS : Denise Austin - Hit the Spot:Sizzler
I purchased this vhs a few years ago, while trying to bounce back into my old jeans after a pregnancy. This is not the only workout program I own - I also bought Callanetics(toning) and the Jane Fonda series (Original Workout and The Challenge), Tae-bo and so on..... I own three Denise Austin programs (Hit the Spot, Blast away 10 pounds- which, by the way I do not recommend them for the intermediate level, they're just not challenging enough).... but for some reason I keep going back to this one - The Sizzler...... first of all it makes me sweat. I mean dripping sweat . Second, I can feel the difference in my thighs , shoulders, arms and chest. I stopped using it and started using the workout by Jane Fonda which by the way makes you awfully sore the next two days but boy does ... Read More

I am on my third vhs tape and would buy a dvd if one was made. I bought my first tape in 1991 and if I do the exercises 3-4 times a week I see results within two weeks. The most notable result is in your buns. I don't do the cool down so the tape only takes me about 22 minutes to do. I know the exercises by heart so don't watch the tape - I just listen to it. But, if you want a good laugh just watch the dark haired lady on Denise's right. She is always looking away from the camera and then you can tell that the cameraman tells her to look ahead and smile.

VHS : Denise Austin: 30 Minute Low Impact Fat Burning Workout
This is the best Denise tape I've tried. I wanted a strait cardio workout without grapevines, salsas and more complicated steps that frustrate me (I WILL give up). The steps are easy to follow, have a nice build up and slow down, and get your heart rate up without over doing it. As this is my 10th Denise tape, I have seen some of these moves before but this is the first time I've seen upper and lower body toning combined with aerobics simultaneously, so you there's nothing missing! If you want something simple, fun and that saves some time, this will keep you motivated!

VHS : Denise Austin - Stretch & Flex
Remember back in High School Health Class where they told you that the three major fitness component were Aerobics, Muscle Toning and Flexibility? There are plenty of videos out there that take care of the first two... but not the flexibility. I have been using this tape since in came out in 1993. It came out before the big Yoga and Pilates fad really hit. I have had to replace it several times. It is the best tape for stretching I have yet to find. It's easy and can be used no matter what your fitness level or age. It's only 30 minutes so not overly lengthly. There are very few difficult yoga-like poses. The ones that are featured are challenging enough and can be done with a little practice. Denise uses a calm voice and gives lots of tips for better form and encouragement without being ... Very nice tape for the true beginner! It's a light, easy way to tone and firm your muscles, but at the same time you DO feel the exercises, so you know it's working. I've been using this tape for about 2 weeks now and I have already noticed some changes in my arms, legs, and back. The tape offers basic moves that anybody can do, which is great for me! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the warm-up and cool-down/stretch is a little too short. I also use Denise Austin's video "stretch & Flex" after this video to add in an extra cool-down. I do recommend you try this video!

VHS : Denise Austin - Blast Away 10 Lbs
This tape is most effective when you do both the 20 minute segments. The moves are easy to follow after you'd done them a few times. (Despite Denise's not-so-good counting and cues)

I work out five times a week and I switch off between this tape and Denise's Ultimate Fat Burner tape. I dropped a few pounds after only a week of using them and noticed some muscle definition in my arms and thighs. Circuit training is really the way to go if you want to lose weight effectively. This tape will give you a great workout and I highly recommend it.

VHS : Denise Austin - Power Kickboxing
As far as Denise Austin is concerned, this is probably the worst tape by her that I've come across (and I've tried quite a few of them!) She's quite obnoxious here, more so than she usually is, and is constantly shouting annoyingly lame phrases like "if you rest, you rust!" or "if you don't squeeze it (your [...]) no one else will!". Plus, the tape just screams cheesiness, b/c they start the workout using the "rocky" theme song. I literally winced when I first heard it, thinking "you've got to be kidding me..."

This workout isn't the best either. It's not very well-queued and her background exercisers (there's too many of them in that small boxing ring they're working out in!) are a bit annoying. One of them - this guy - is a bit distracting as his moves vary a little from Denise...he puts ... Read More

I don't know if this is the same video, but if it is, I've been looking for it forever. It has the most annoying presentation, but it was the best abs workout I've ever had. I don't know if I got a rock hard tummy from her workout exercises or from laughing...It doesn't take the time to explain the moves, nor does it spend much time on warm-up, but since I like to do this workout everyday (or every other day), I'm more than happy to skip those things. It's fast and effective. I never knew what it was like to have a flat stomach before this video. It isn't easy, but it is well worth it.

VHS : Denise Austin - Hit the Spot: Fat Burning Blast
This was my first workout video I bought about 10 years ago when I was a slightly overweight teenager. It was difficult to follow. She often wouldn't tell you what move she was going to do next until she was already doing it. On one rep she would do a movement 2 or 3 times and the next time just do it once. She seemed to be making it up as she went along- you could almost see her thinking "hey, I should be doing something with my arms- maybe this!". The only other negative thing about it is her constant frantic shrieking. It reminds me of a miniature schnauzer I used to have that would get so excited to see us come home it would pee all over the floor. With the volume down, it is tolerable, and with all that being said, I did this video 5 times/week for the summer and lost about 35 pounds.
