The Art of Storytelling: How To Write A Story....Any Story
Shadow Watcher
Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake

Even though this WW2 espionage drama is well made and completely engrossing, it's a hard picture to embrace...primarily because there is nobody in it that you can like and want to root for during the first hour or so.

True, Michael Caine and Robert Duvall play "good Germans"; honorable soldiers who detest Hitler and his policies, but are sworn to do all they can for their country. And, Donald Sutherland, who works for the German cause, is an Irishman, dedicated to the bringing about of a United Ireland by any means possible.

Still, these guys are out to either kidnap or kill Winston Churchill...and what viewer wants to see that happen? ... Read More

VHS : Massacre of Burkittsville 7: Blair Witch Leg
This tape is actually two seperate pieces that originally appeared on television: The Massacre of the Burkittsville Seven (Made for Showtime), and The Blair Witch Legacy (Made for The Sci-Fi Channel). Massacre explores the Rustin Parr killings, and is by far the better of the two features. It fits well with the documentary-like feel of the first Blair Witch movie, and provides some really chilling insights into the events of that movie. I think it would even be effective on it's own. The Blair Witch Legacy doesn't stack up as well, playing more like what it really is: A long informercial for Book of Shadows. It, too, adds to the moviegoing experience, but since it originally aired before Book of Shadows was released, it tries too hard not to spoil the movie's surprises. Overall, it's a worthwhile ... I rented this from the library for my son, who is interested in learning about the planets. I ended up being more engrossed by it than he was. This movie is all about the development of the mars rovers and you really get the feel for what it was like to be part of these teams, the highs and the lows. You feel as thrilled as they do when the launch occurs and again when the rovers land. This was a really well done film.

I saw this when it first showed on public television and was so incredibly moved by it. The footage and interviews are great. VERY WELL done! Then when I saw the Ron Howard movie I was SOOOO disappointed...the movie doesn't do the actual story justice. Buy this documentary and learn a valuable life-lesson: No matter how many things go wrong, keep trying and never give up hope!

This series was produced in 1990. I was a fan of the original PBS series and watched the VHS tapes. The series discusses topics like dark matter, the microwave background and exoplanets that were cutting edge in the early '90's. These topics are in the news to-day and even though they have advanced since 1990, the quality of the series' presentation is so top notch, it still fascinates in 2007. It is also very entertaining with magical graphics and music. For the astronomy buff the DVD is an historical record. For the novice, it is an introduction to the grass roots work of astronomers.

It was very easy to order and the price was the same as my bookstore at school. The only thing that made it more expensive was the shipping and then it took about 5 days to get to me. When I received it it was in a very solidly sealed box that I couldn't open without a knife. When I finally opened it, the back cover of my "soft" textbook had poke holes all over it from where I tried to open the box on the back seam.
The book itself is well written with great pictures of the cosmos.
