I am a runner, so Steve Prefontaine is a hero to me. He was an awesome runner, and also did a lot for amateur athletics overall, affecting all generations after him. He died such a tragic, untimely death, but his legacy and inspiration live on. Great documentary of a great hero.

Aha! The second of the Connections series is available. So is the third, Connections 3... The entire Connections series is great for the young, inspiring them to intelligent inquiry into science, history and history of technology. Burke, ridiculed by many historians for his somewhat loose connections (historians are a crabby, selfish bunch) none-the-less explains interesting major inventions through a series of... well, connections in history, science and society. He makes much more sense than the historians who don't like him and is therefore correct in all his major points. Oh, by the way, I have a degree in history. So, buy this if you've got a smart kid and want to stimulate him or her to the greater pursuits of the mind.

It's an important historical documentary , but if you want to see old taps dancers like showed in the dvd cover, avoid it. There are only few short cuts from genius like Bill Robinson and others and many and many conversations and interviews. Try old videos in VHS or the outstanding afro-american dancers in 'Stormy Weather', a Fox musical from the fourties, available in Amazon.
