One of the most well acted, well directed and greatest stories ever told. It transends generations. I've watched this movie every Easter since I can remember, and now my children carry on the tradition. This is one to add to the collection.

VHS : The Easter Promise
All the Addie Mills stories (THE HOUSE WITHOUT A CHRISTMAS TREE, THE THANKSGIVING TREASURE, THE EASTER PROMISE, ADDIE AND THE KING OF HEARTS) were character-driven stories and I've heard many people complain that they are dull. While I disagree courteously about the first two installments, I did find myself a bit bored during this outing. I thought the stories for the first two were more engaging; even the second tale on the old theme of the child befriending an embittered elderly person had a couple of twists to it. But THE EASTER PROMISE story just seems like the same take on another old theme: child befriends successful person who turns out to be not the success people think and who is really insecure and unhappy.

Had the story been more appealing I probably wouldn't have noticed ... Read More

VHS : VeggieTales - Where's God When I'm S-scared
this first in the Veggie series was produced on an absolute shoe-string...copies were being made on an as-needed basis as orders came in, and the animation shows that. but! you can't go wrong with three great songs (God is bigger than the boogie-man, the water buffalo song, and oh no!) that stick in your head. you will find yourself singing them just as often as you catch your kids singing them.
the "monsters" jumping out of junior's drawers and the visit by frankencelery allow for a look at night-time fears in a way that children can understand and enjoy without becoming too frightened. telling kids their fears are taken care of by God because He's big and will protect them and the way that bob explains what those scary things really are should help youngsters to learn to overcome those ... I like this special its very funny. I love how Marcie can't cook good and she asks "uh Sir how do we color the eggs after we fry them?" Later when Snoopy gives them some eggs Marcie asks what do we do with them and Peppermint Patty says "We eat them we put a little salt on them and we eat them." Marcie puts salt on the egg and then crunches down on the shell and says "Tastes terrible Sir." So funny and there's also the Arbor day special that's funny too but I don't care for the voice they used for Lucy. Great DVD. I'll have to get it. I had the old one but it got old so I thew it away.

I wonder what the person below me was thinking with his comments. Sometime's I wonder the state of the internet with people like that roaming around. Obviously this movie is not the way this person described it.

Anyway this is a wonderful Easter movie that everyone should own! It was a family tradition in my family every year on Easter. Munching down on our chocolate, we would watch this and a bunch of other holiday classics. Pass this on to today's children.

We all enjoy this video, the clothing is a bit outdated, but the verses and songs are timeless! My youngest children even are saying the verses along with the narrator the first week!

I saw this movie as a child when it first came out, and have been looking for a copy of it for years. I even wrote to Ms Whitley, and other video vendors with no luck. Then in a last ditch effort, I tried Amazon.com, and it was truly a Miracle when I saw that it was in stock! Watching it again after 50 years was just like the first time. It is now a part of my DVD Library, and my heart, thanks to Amazon.com

My kids range in ages from 11 to 5 and although the 11 year old won't admit it, even he can't get enough of Veggie Tales.
Minnesota Cuke, played by the magnificent Larry the Cucumber is in search of Samson's hairbrush. He's like a veggie version of Indiana Jones, except Minnesota doesn't quite have Indie's confidence, although he does run into trouble just as Indie does, not just with his enemies, but trouble within himself.
It's a heartwarming tale about having strength in the way God made you.
