1.AM/PM Yoga for Beginners starring: Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee
directed by: Ted Landon (II)
June 13, 2000
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : AM/PM Yoga for Beginners
This video is appropriate for people who have no interest in a yoga workout whatsoever. It is slow, ineffective, and short. More time is spent reading the warnings than doing any real yoga. The am portion is so slow it will put you right back to sleep. Save your money! Buy a real yoga video!

I have been taking yoga classes for some time and have a few of Rodney Yee's tapes. He has a quiet, soothing manner and the scenery is lovely. The only problem that I have with this and some of his other videos are that sometimes when he is coaching the viewer's breathing, he neglects to follow through.

I got this tape as a present for my birthday.I think it is a really good yoga tape.Jane Fonda really makes yoga fun and easy. This tape is ideal for experienced yoga people as it is for non-yoga people.
Jane Fonda goes through every move very carefully.I felt really realxed and stretched out after this tape.It is real good stress reducing tape.It is really good for flexibility.Jane`s Sun Salutation routine really gets the flexibility going. After you are none with this tape you will feel great. It is actually one of my favorite yoga tapes.Really good for people who don`t know about yoga and want to start doing it.It is also good for people who do alot of stregth training and aerobics.I guarantee you`ll love this yoga routine.

I brought this DVD based on the MANY recommendations and was very disappointed. It is slow, boring and unchallenging. The instructor is sooooo annoying and talks in an over-the-top soft "earth mother" voice.

Instead try the Sarah Hollidays prenatal series, Perfect Pregnancy Workout Vol 2. Yoga or Christine Andersons prenatal yoga DVD.

6.Living Yoga - Abs Yoga for Beginners from: Living Arts

VHS : Living Yoga - Abs Yoga for Beginners
A great yoga video for beginners although the edition that I received has an extra 10 minutes of breathing exercises added to the beginning that the original version did not have. The original got right into the physical workout after about three minutes of breathing and centering. Some beginners may find the longer period of breathing a bit tedious and want to skip over some of it.

VHS : Yoga for You: Unworkout 2
I found this tape at my local library. I've tried others that were too fast, too challenging & too boring. I though I'd never learn to like yoga. After checking it out a few times, I'd found I was adicted & had to get my own copy. It's a great stress reliever, it just stretches away the day's tenison. There is a morning & evening routine so you just do a few minutes morning & night. There's even a meditation at the end. Dixie's video is challenging, yet not too difficult. Try it & you'll love it too. I reccomend this to everyone who has never done yoga, but has always wanted to learn.

Upon inital use of this tape, I felt that it could have gone to a more advanced level. Although it does an adequate job of reviewing basic postures. What is lacking is a thorough workout so that a user will want to use this tape as a guide on a regular basis. Great for beginners but no more.

9.Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies starring: Sara Ivanhoe

VHS : Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies
I am a neophyte when it comes to yoga, and in many respects this DVD was an excellent resource. Instructor Sara Ivanhoe, who is clearly an accomplished yoga instructor, walks the viewer through the most basic "daily dozen" yoga moves in about 45 minutes. Each move is explained carefully and is held for six breaths as Ms. Ivanhoe demonstrates the move. From this foundation, Ms. Ivanhoe explains slightly more advanced poses and techniques, but we're definitely talking approachable, manageable stuff for beginners.

All this is supplemented by the usual "For Dummies" learning aids, like mythbusters and jargon translators. All in all, this is a helpful introduction to the world of yoga.

Why only four stars? Because the workout moves so slowly. After the second time through the DVD, I ... Read More

VHS : T'ai Chi For Health: Yang Long Form
I bought this dvd for my husband who had done this form of Tai Chi twenty years ago. This was the form he has been looking for. If you know the basics of this type of Tai Chi, this dvd is really an excellent refresher course. Sometimes, though it is hard to follow the instructor, but if you watch the dvd first and then practice with the teacher it is a really great program.
