Here we go again. Another star wars movie with a twist...its animated. I am not a avid star wars fan, however, I have seen the new trilogy not the old one. I was excited to finally see this movie and I wasn't disappointed. The plot was simplistic at best and wasn't bombarded with idle chit-chat. It was a thrill ride from beginning to end, I don't care about the naysayers have to say. I felt that the movie was fresh, a nice change of pace, amazing feature film. The action never stifled or faltered it kept up with the film. The relationship between Anakin and the padawan was incredibly deep and moving. I felt a connection and was rewarded. If you are a crazed star wars fan you will nick pick this movie to death. Watch this movie because it was to the point and filled with action. I recommend ... Read More

VHS : Star Wars Animated Classics - Ewoks: The Haunted Village
I remember this first series of Ewok cartoons way back when I was in kindergarten in 1985 and I loved them. The series was smart and mythological with some serious themes interwoven throughout to make it worthwhile. Paul Dini, of Batman the animated series fame, even wrote and/or produced almost every episode. The Ewoks' spirit trees, the new characterizations of Wicket and his friends, the witch that always fought master Logray, and the Duloks made the first 13 episodes better than the two live-action Ewok movies at the time. They really delve into the culture of the Ewoks that combines elements of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and The Dark Chrystal. While the first season was slightly dark(but not too dark for kids) the second season was pretty poor in quality and reeeally cartoony to appeal to kids ... Read More

VHS : Star Wars Trilogy
The original Star Wars trilogy will always stand in first place for my sci-fi loving heart, when it comes to classic, wonderfully told space adventure. The special effects were groundbreaking at the time, and today, are just as powerful, though we would do them differently now. The characters are multi-dimensional, and the story of good vs. evil is masterfully played out. For anyone who loves sci-fi, this needs to be at the top of the list.

Its time people realize somthing important. When George Lucas sat down to write star wars in the early 1970's he wrote episodes 1-6. Not 4-6, 1-3 but ALL six!!! He couldn't make a movie that long. So he came up with the story from ep 4 because he felt it was the best part for the time. It was the greatest film of all time. He did not expect it to do that well. He was exhausted from working on it, and vowed never to direct again, which is why he did not direct ep 5 and ep 6. However, years went by, and so did the technology (which his company developed!! ILM) which became CG. Now that it existed, he could tell the story he wanted to tell- ep 1-3. BY KNOCKING THIS MOVIE YOU ARE KNOCKING LUCAS HIMSELF!! Its his baby. NOW PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, get over Jar-Jar!! I was frankly blown away by the lightsaber scenes in ... Read More

I am also perplexed at the many whining reviews of this DVD set. I understand that LucasFilm had originally said that they would never release the original theatrical release on DVD, but they did, and we should be thankful, even if it isn't "perfect." All the whining isn't going to persuade Mr. Lucas to restore the original to modern-day brilliance. I think it adds a bit of charm to the set. Like an old-time movie, which it is becoming, and plot changes or significant editing to the story-lines are not always good, but Mr. Lucas does have a right to edit his movies as he sees fit. And again: MR. LUCAS DID NOT HAVE TO RELEASE THE ORIGINAL, UNEDITED TRILOGY. I'm just thankful that they released the original with English subtitles.
