VHS : Lost in Space
Hated it in the theaters (We were big fans of the 60s TV series and like most fans of the show, felt the film didn't do the series right.) However, when it came out on video we decided to watch it again on its own merits. Somehow, this time it all seemed to work. (Funny how some films can change when you watch them again with different eyes.)

The Amazon reviewer says it all brilliantly. We second their esteemed opinion. A superior DVD of a not-so-bad-movie. Certainly a fun time waster and if you've never seen the original series, you'll probably enjoy it even that much more. The cast is first rate - Oldman gives a finely shaded performance that manages to pay tribute to the original Dr. Smith (Jonathan Harris) without going too far over the top. And how delightful that they brought ... Read More

The two are transported to a planet where a wall of vines imprisons them in a small canyon- and a strange creature moves in for the kill!

Although I did not grow up while this show was on, I did see these in syndication. These episodes in particular are what hooked me.Wheather it was the great special effects for that time, or the fact that Dr. Smith isn't hiding behind the robot because of some green space women, I can always watch these. I loved the spectacular music by John Williams and the eerie sets. Why give it anything less than 5 stars?

This episode is what Lost In Space is all about...survival!! The endearing aspects of the show, to me, has always been the triumphant overcoming of Professor Robinson and Don to repair the SNRGS telemetry and deutronium fuel systems of the Jupiter 2! From the episode "The raft" where they attempt to derive a synthesized deutronium fuel source to leave Preplanus in the first series, we fans-true fans of the show always sat at the edge of our seats wondering ...are they going to lift off soon? Did they solve their deutronium fuel problem? This episode shows what they are made of and of course...Dr Smith and his hilarious game of cards for trading a thruster control he stole from the Astrogator repair parts, for the "precious" cosmonium of Mr. Nerim is funny! And shows the Doctor's legendary insanity!! Oh the pain....the ... Read More

Three of the best of the Classic Series are contained in this set. The only two part episode, "The Keeper" stars Michael Rennie as an intergalactic collector of two of every species...and he thinks Penny and Will Robinson would be fine additions to his zoo. Rennie is in fine form as The Keeper and is reunited with his former co-star, Jonathan Harris. Far from being the comic villain of later episodes, here Dr. Smith is quite ready to endanger the Robinsons in a botched attempt to make off with the Keeper's space ship, but instead lets all the carnivors lose on the planet (with one horrible exception).

The final treat in this set is "War of the Robots," where you not only get FORBIDDEN PLANET's own Robbie the Robot as a guest star (who is also, by the way, the Lost In Space Robot's big brother, ... Read More
