1.Shell's Wonderful World Of Golf: Hogan Vs. Snead starring: Sam Snead, Ben Hogan

Used Price: $25.91

The only time that Snead and Hogan ever played a head to head 18 hole exhibition match for national television took place at the Houston Country Club in 1965. Prior to this, Snead had held a 3-0 series edge in tour playoffs, including the famous win at the 1954 Masters. Hogan played his guts out at Houston, hitting 18 fairways and 18 greens. Career grand slam winner Gene Sarazen called Ben's round the best from tee to green that he'd seen in his 63 years. Officially, it ended 69-72, misleading since Hogan missed many holeable putts, the bane of the ageing golfer.Do not be too quick to turn off your video either. Two men who combined to win 16 major titles had more understandable technique tips after the match than one will hear from a modern pro in hours of lessons.

VHS : Harvey Penick's Little Red Video: Lessons and Teachings from a Lifetime in Golf
The Little Red Book is one of the greatest golf instructional books of all time, and I would argue the greatest. It's simple golf, it teaches the game and the swing without the technical jargin that too many people get caught up in. The only flaw with the book is its lack of illustration, though must concepts are simple enough not to need them.

The Little Red Video offers images of those concepts. It's one thing to talk about "clipping the tee" and another to see Ben Crenshaw make a smooth swing with that thought. There is a saying in art, "The great artist is the simplifier," well, I think that goes in golf, too. I strongly reccomend this book to anyone who loves golf--it's forever changed my game and my outlook.

Forget all the slick tips and hype. This little gem is my one source for golf understanding, practice, and getting back to fundamentals. I've had this tape for about 15 years. Every time I go back and watch it I re-learn something important that I've let slip my mind.

I am convinced that studying this one tape, over and over till you're sick of it, will instill an inner confidence that when you venture out to the course, you will actually know and understand what the hell you're doing!

Thanks Harvey!

I have owned this video for a while now, and I feel it is absolutely priceless. I have watched it many times and still do. As you progress as a golfer you will pick up more things from the video that you did not feel before. Just the slow motion of Jack Nicklaus not far from his prime make the video worth it. The slow motion segments are priceless. You can learn more from just watching him over and over and absorbing it, than you could from a thousand books. Jack, would you remaster it and put it on DVD? Please? I would be the first to buy it and add it to my collection and continue to watch it!!!
The Amazon review here and some of the others are for Jack's book of a similar title which is great and was used by some current tour pros to help them learn the game; but the item pictured here and made ... Read More

the only thing that rankles with me is J. leonard's moment of 'winning' - he and the entire team doing a lap of honor of the green - though his opponent hadn't finished and was left looking bemused and no doubt irritated at the childish behaviour he was witnissing, because in fact we hadn't yet won.
That sort of behaviour maybe ok for the NFL and some other sports - but it the opposite of the spirit of the game.
It's those few moments of hysteria that spoil the victory for me.
