VHS : Rookie of Year
I purchased this DVD after re-viewing it on a TV where I work out. This film was essentially unknown to the kids I showed it to (5th graders)since they hadn't been born yet. It was an enjoyable film with lots of humor, and the kids really liked it.

VHS : Slap Shot (25th Anniversary Special Edition)
I had heard how THIS movie was the ultimate ice hockey movie, but I thought it was sooooo bad and soooo did not portray the game of ice hockey. If it hadn't been for the (oftentimes unnecessary) very foul language ,there wouldn't have been much dialogue. I thought it portrayed hockey players in a very negative way. I did not find it funny or enjoyable (and I have a pretty open-minded sense of humor). To say the least, I am VERY sorry that I spent money buying this DVD.

We loved it and laughed all the way through it. I hope a real coach
doesn't have to go through all the antics that Fred MacMurray went
through. You have to like Fred MacMurray to really appreciate
this movie. I guess what made us laugh most were the teens. Our
daughter was the same way. I wasn't sure either of us would live
through those times.

VHS : The Bad News Bears
Im not going to tell you all about this film, or tell you who is in it, or what they did, etc. Everyone knows Walter Matthau plays an ex-ball player who drinks, smokes and swears to much thru the movie, and also that Tatum O'Neil plays his ex-girlfriend's daughter who he gets to pitch and all the other stuff, like Tanner swearing and saying the "N" word, and such. All this has been said and reviewed in earlier post. I saw this movie when it first came out in 1976. I was 9 turning 10 years old that year. I cant believe its been 32 years now. WOW! Im gettin old. I believe that this movie is a time capsule. Its an era and time, long gone by. Sure, there is little league baseball today, but its not the same as it was back then. People who were kids back then (like me) can tell you that the whole scene was ... Read More

VHS : Comrades of Summer
I enjoyed "The Comrades of Summer." It had better baseball than a lot of sports movies, and the characters were engaging and entertaining. The situation of a hotshot manager who is brought down to earth by his own greed and over-reaching is a cautionary tale for all of us who think the world is our oyster. Having a railroad track running through your practice field's infield gives new meaning to the term "bad hop." I thought this was very funny stuff.

VHS : Bad News Bears in Breaking Training
Not that long ago before today's little league baseball players dreamed of one day joining the majors because of the 10 to 20 million dollars they could make in a year (yes,a year!),there was this movie,The Bad News Bears in breaking training. What I enjoyed about this movie was that it was one of those classic baseball movies that could never be remade today. After watching this movie back in the day,we all dreamed of having our little league team play in what was at the time a baseball stadium like no other....The Houston Astrodome. In this 2nd chapter of the Bad News Bears trilogy, the San Fernando Valley-based team is given the opportunity to play in an exhibition game vs the home town Toros in the Astrodome. Having abandoned their coach, the coachless team heads to the lonestar state in hopes of living every young ... Read More

I always thought this story line was original, but now that I have seen "Glory Road" I am embarrassed to admit, I am not as well versed on college basketball history and can see where its genisis came from. So this movie is now the 2nd best basketball movie I have ever seen.
