My dog is doing almost everything that they show on this DVD and he is only 10 months old. Even if you dont want to hunt, you should get this DVD for your retriever. The best part of my dogs day is working on the things shown in this DVD, and It has made taking him places with us a lot easier as well. We all have benifited from this DVD.

We raise Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and have used this video (& the corresponding book before the video was available) for each of our dogs. It is straightforward & easy to go one step at a time, by stopping the video after each section. The instructions are clear & concise, and only require you to work your dog for 10 min twice a day. It starts off with choosing a pup, all the way to a finished retriever. It does not, however include instructions on field trialing. This is strictly a video that enables the viewer to train their dog to duck hunt with them well & efficiently. Good tool to have, especially for the hunter who's training for the first time, and a good reminder for the old hats.

VHS : Bowhunting October Whitetails
This was the first bowhunting video I ever watched, and I have loved it ever since. Even though it says release date is 1998, video predates that by 10 years.{I know because it was in 1980's that I first saw it} Don't let that deter you, though; the quality and information are ageless. Several deer taken on camera, including one of the most incredible running deer instinctive shots I've ever witnessed. Honestly, an absolute must for anyone who likes quality hunting videoes with lots of action, invaluable information, and some good old fashioned fun.

VHS : Supreme Challenge
In keeping with Stoney Wolf's tradition of fine videography, this effort follows avid bowhunters on their quest for the ultimate bowhunting challenge... taking big Mule Deer bucks in open country. The video is superb. Well filmed under difficult conditons and is the finest in outdoor sports. This is a "must see" video for the archer or mule deer hunter. It is accurate, and honest. The scenery is spectacular and the quarry is elusive, wary and everything you'd expect it to be.

In addition to the other reviews, let me say that this thriller sneaks up on you. It is so "normal" at first - a guy and girl having an affair. But the psychotic twists to the plot are horrendous.

A minor note of interest: The song lyrics are by Dore Previn (Andre's first wife) and the music is by John Williams - although there isn't a lot - and is his cosmopolitan style at its best (before the bigger style used for Star Wars)

I've shot trap for a few years, but I learned several things from this video, e.g., gun movement, sight lines, eye points, etc. It would have been useful for the instructor to show how a left-hand shooter like myself would stand and where they would point, but this is left up to the left-hander to extrapolate. Still, this tape should help beginners learn the basics and may help experienced shooters improve their scores.

Sorry for the lower rating, but I'm going to take a little different path from previous reviewers, who gave this video 5 Star ratings. I mostly didn't enjoy this video for the same reason I don't enjoy hunting (and there is nothing inherently wrong with hunting).

I did not enjoy watching large pedatory skewer birds snatch young gulls out of their cliffside nests and carry them off, still alive. I did not enjoy watching a killer whale stun a baby seal by throwing it in the air a few times before eating it. I did not enjoy watching the "gang" of chimpanzees stalk, isolate, then rip apart a victim colubus monkey.

We know that these things must go on in the wild, but I question the value of pouring a glass of iced tea and sitting down to enjoy it in the comfort ... Read More
