VHS : Howard the Duck
Howard the Duck must be one of the best movies I ever saw while I was growing up. When I found out how horrible the movie did box-office wise, I thought, Okay, what went wrong? The movie takes home 4 razzies including worst picture of 1986 and George Lucas disowns the picture afterwards. Pixar Animation was founded because of this movie. That should account for something (check out IMDB.com for that). As for the DVD, on dvdverdict.com somebody interviewed director Willard Huyck and writer Gloria Katz and they were surprised when the movie wasn't available on DVD yet. Willard said they may have to talk to George Lucas to get the movie available on Region 1. If Universal ever puts it out on DVD I hope that Howard the Duck gets the special edition treatment it deserves in widescreen no doubt. ... Read More

VHS : Incredible Shrinking Woman
This brings back memories of all the great 80's flicks on HBO. It may not be Oscar Award caliber, but it's a great movie for the family to enjoy.
I wish it would be released on DVD though. My sister & I still quote lines from this movie...remember "Run Sidney! Run!"
And we all remember Concepcion dancing around in the kitchen & cramming egg shells down the disposal on top of Pat who's fallen down the drain!

Classic! Can't wait until the powers that be release this one on DVD!!

Excellent Blu-ray. I owned the Superbit version of the film, which has been replaced with the Blu-ray. Outstanding picture and sound. Worth the upgrade to Blu-ray if you previously owned the film...

5.Weird Science starring: Anthony Michael Hall, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, Suzanne Snyder

VHS : Weird Science
This is not as strong an 80s comedy as some of John Hughes' other work is, but it is all right for a brief comedic diversion. The acting is just okay, Kelly LeBrock is cute but not all that energetic, the music is mostly synth, and the wacko science that disrupts the household does not make a lot of sense, especially during the party scene, when a missile shows up along with some crazed bikers. These distract from the basic storyline.
Otherwise, it is amusing enough for a cheap rental, but I would recommend Hughes' other work instead.

VHS : Back to Future 2
IN A NUTSHELL: DOES WHAT A TIME TRAVEL MOVIE IS SUPPOSED TO DO!

This sequel of the superb "Back To The Future" is a very earnest attempt to follow a winning formula up with a truly worthwhile effort in this sequel. Complex, yes, but interesting. Unfortunately, at times it gets a bit too mechanically contrived with the time sequence derivations, and I find myself mentally checking the continuity which detracts from the theme. Nevertheless, if you liked the first "Back To The Future" you will probably enjoy this movie. All the characters are present from the original and they are playing multiple generations almost simultaneously. After all, isn't that what a time travel ovie is supposed to do?

8.Lilo & Stitch starring: Zoe Caldwell, Tia Carrere, Daveigh Chase, John DeMita, Judi M. Durand

VHS : Lilo & Stitch
Lilo & Stich is such a lovely film! It tells the highly original story of a little Hawaiian girl who is orphaned encountering an experimental creature from outerspace and quickly befriending it. The animation is exquisite and the voice cast are on top form throughout both the comedic and adventurous elements of the story. The music is magnificent and very fitting to the film as most of it is Hawaiian influenced and features Hawaiian singers and instruments. An excellent if often overlooked Disney film that will touch your heart and also leave you with a smile on your face by the end.
