VHS : The Uninvited
One of the things which makes this film so remarkable is the script, as other reviewers have noted. Perhaps the humour and pacing might be better understood if it were realised that Dodie Smith scripted the movie -- the writer to I Capture the Castle and The 101 Dalmatians. She was living in the States at the time to escape the bombing of England during WW2, and this was one of her projects. An amazing script, performed brilliantly by the likes of Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey and the radiant (and ultimately fatally flawed) Gail Russell. And the music by Victor Young, Stella By Starlight, is incredibly evocative. A truly "must-see" film.

VHS : Godzilla Vs Biollante
This movie was so great that it is almost impossible to tell ya. I will not give away the story. If you ever get the chance to buy this movie, do not waste it. You will be sorry if you do not get it. It is a rare Godzilla flick. The best Godzilla movie is right here.

VHS : Frankenstein
Given that I already own The Monster Legacy Collection (Frankenstein / Dracula / The Wolf Man) (busts and all), I hemmed, hawed, and read other reviews prior to purchasing the 75th Anniversary Edition. However, an Amazon seller listed an offer I couldn't refuse, so I bit and, all things considered, have no cause for regrets.
The Good: First, the print looks and sounds better than the previous releases. Nice and clean with deep blacks, good contrast, and very little damage, the video is solid and a pleasure to watch. However, I'm especially appreciative of the audio remastering--it sounds terrific for the first time (at least in my opinion).
A treasure trove of juicy extras are included, the jewel in the crown being Kevin Brownlow's Universal Horror, which I've caught on TCM. Also to be found ... Read More

VHS : Phantasm II
Yes I consider this sequel to be even better than the first film, Phantasm 2 continues right after the first film ended and it never stops it has more action, blood and gore and it also has a faster pace. It seems like Don Coscarelli had a bigger budget and the same dark atmosphere is still there but it seems to be alot more fun this time around and it is possibly the best 80's horror sequel out there, only two cast members returned Angus Scrimm as The Tall Man and Reggie Bannister as Reggie, the original actor who played Mike did not return instead hes played by James LeGros some blond guy who was O.K. I guess. For the last 8 years of his life Mike Pearson (James LeGross) has been in a mental institution after the horrible events that happened in the past including the death of his older brother Jody he has also been ... Every time this movie aired on tv I watched it and loved every minute of it! I searched looking for it on DVD but it's not yet available much to my dismay! Such a great movie deserves a great dvd release! The 5 stars are for the movie itself not the vhs issue.

VHS : House IV
I think this was an okay movie (maybe this is because I never saw the first one or the second one). I thought it was really, really stupid, but my friend and I liked the pizza singing part--we kept cracking up every few seconds. The movie had very cheesy effects, bad actors, and at some parts you are just disgusted by how bad a movie can be. Since I'm not the type of person that would walk away from a bad movie (I stuck through half of "Leatherface" before escaping that stupid movie by doing homework) I stuck through the end, and there are two good parts (one is the pizza). The second is very touching, when the wife remembers her husband with the projector thingy that was spilling memories out to her. That part was good too, but the rest of the movie just was plain boring, bad, and awful. Make sure that if you DO ... Read More

VHS : Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman
Before there was Freddy Vs Jason there was Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man. I suppose it was only fitting this would happen sooner or later seeing as Universal was behind the Monster movies so why not take advantage of it? This was the first of the crossover movies and quite possibly the best although this movie is far from perfect and does have its fair share of flaws.

Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein are two of the greatest horror flicks ever made due to the brilliant performance by Boris Karloff and the direction by James Whale, but after Whale left the series Son of Frankenstein just didn't fully work, while I think the movie was overall good and Karloff was solid he wasn't used the way he was in the past two and he was wise to leave the series afterwards and that's where it all went downhill in my opinion; ... 9.House of Dracula starring: Onslow Stevens, John Carradine, Lon Chaney Jr., Martha O'Driscoll, Lionel Atwill
directed by: Erle C. Kenton
September 16, 1997
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : House of Dracula
Erle C. Kenton directed this superior follow-up to "House of Frankenstein" and closed the lid on Universal's monster franchise. "House of Dracula" (1945) remains among the studio's better sequels, with effective gothic atmosphere and taut pacing. Onslow Stevens' sympathetic performance as the dedicated yet doomed Dr. Edelman holds the film together - memorably assisted by John Carradine's Dracula, Lon Chaney Jr.'s Wolf Man and (all too briefly) Glenn Strange's Frankenstein Monster. Due to budgetary shortcuts, the disappointing climax is mostly comprised of stock footage from 1942's "The Ghost of Frankenstein."

10.Godzilla Vs Megalon starring: Katsuhiko Sasaki, Hiroyuki Kawase, Yutaka Hayashi, Robert Dunham, Kotaro Tomita
directed by: Jun Fukuda

VHS : Godzilla Vs Megalon
The most bashed Godzilla movie of all time (with only Godzilla's Revenge giving it a run for it's money), I think it's still way more entertaining than the Millenium Series. I like old school Godzilla. Sue me. And it's got Ultram- err, I mean, Jet Jaguar in it! Groovy, man.

First, I don't work for this particular company, but if you're looking for a good copy of this movie on DVD (as well as the original Japanese cuts of all the G-films, including Godzilla '85 and Biollante), here's a hint: do a Google search for "Showa Video" and go from there. The discs are bootlegs, but the prices are right and they ship pretty quick.

Just getting the word out to those tired of watching their ratty VHS copies.
