VHS : Monsters, Inc.
"Monsters,Inc" is one of PIXAR's cleverest creations. It's about the Cyclopean Mike (Billy Crystal) and the shaggy Sully (John Goodman) whose career is to make children scream, keeping Monsteropolis powered. They collect children's screams. However, their city is having an "energy crisis" since children aren't as easily scared. Sully has been employee of the month--but the jealous salamander Randall (Steve Buscemi) will do anything to get ahead. Then,a little girl named Boo scares Monsterpolis... On the way, Sully develops paternal feelings for Boo,and it's learned that the monsters fear children.

"Monsters,Inc" has plenty of in-jokes--from the Harryhausen's sushi bar to an opening like "The Right Stuff." It's a clever, poignant movie. Mike is delightfully neurotic, thinking up that ... Read More

What more can I say. My kids have watched the movie 3 or 4 times a day since they got it! I have watched it myself as well (not that much) and everytime I enjoy the story, the details, the manus... I just don't regret the purchase.

VHS : Hercules (A Walt Disney Masterpiece)
This movie is entertaining and has a wonderful moral lesson in the end. I bought it for my toddlers, and although it contains stimulating animation, they did not enjoy all the battles Hercules had to endure. It is a movie based on the mythical hero, but completely incorrect from an historic point of view. Maybe my kiddos will like it a bit more in a couple of years.

VHS : James and the Giant Peach (Walt Disney Pictures Presents)
As a mother of two kids (ages 8 and 6), I have read nearly all of the Roald Dahl books multiple times in the past few years. We all love his writing - his stories are usually quite dark and yet offer a lot of humor, warmth and love as well. James and the Giant Peach is a wonderful story and well worth reading with your children. Mind you, there is the usual dose of Dahl meanness and nastiness but it is great story with many wonderful characters, budding relationships, and ultimately a very happy ending.

I was thus incredibly disappointed when we borrowed this DVD from our local library. The screenwriter took far too much liberty in changing things. I found it crude and insulting to the memory of Roald Dahl. If you have read the book, you know, for example, that the two horrible ... Read More

VHS : Rover Dangerfield
Rodney Dangerfield was right: "I get no respect." And neither has his brainchild, Rover Dangerfield, a visual treat of an animated movie. Both thought up, written and produced by the late Mr Dangerfield - as well as supplying the voice of the star canine - this is one of those concrete animated movies that time forgot. You don't at all have to be into Rodney Dangerfield's kind of humour to appreciate it. That's one of the magics of animation, how it speaks beyond such boundaries.

Suave, sassy hound dog Rover (oddly, 'Dangerfield' is never mentioned as being his name during the movie) lives an easy, pleasurable life in Las Vegas with his best friend Eddie and his dog buddies, gambling and dancing the nights away. His owner, the sweet showgirl Connie, makes this all possible. But things change ... Read More

Does this DVD have a lot of reviews or what? I never saw so many before at least not on Amazon. The movie was pretty good I guess but the second one was better. Did you know that there will be a 4th one in 2010? There will also also be a 5th and final one in 2013.

Fun to watch, until Bill Murray comes on screen. Word to the squeamish...you might want to close your eyes during his scenes. But the animation is very well done, and the dialogue is very funny if you follow closely.
