Action movies are only as good as their villains. Heroics require really nasty bad guys. Gene Hackman skillfully portrays an antagonist so mean you know he'd kill his own son. Sharon Stone, for the most part, credibly plays the protagonist, but her motivation for revenge seems filched from Harmonica in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West. The remaining cast of bad guys are cartoonish and the plot stretches credulity beyond the limits, but fine acting and a unique premise work to make this an engaging film. It also fun to watch Leonardo Di Caprio and Russell Crowe in secondary roles before they could demand eight figure salaries per movie. The Shopkeeper The Shut Mouth Society

This is a fantastic film, a brilliant example of a western or a war film, as well as being a very entertaining movie. The action is brutal and the directing makes this an amazing spectacle. This is one of the best films I've ever seen.

This has always been one of my favorites westerns, although I never went to the trouble of getting a DVD version, until it came up on my Amazon recommendation list. I ordered it right away, and received the usual good Amazon service, and quick, free shipping, and have not been disappointed. Gregory Peck is one of best actors, and makes the movie, playing the bad guy this time, instead of his usual hero role. I can personally recommend this movie, going against a number of the negative reviews that are posted here.

This is a western/comedy as good as Blazing Saddles or Maverick. And oddly enough, it has Arnold in it?! But don't expect his favorite catch phrase "I'll be back". This is much older than Terminator.

It is a classic. the 2 disc set has everything you need and more. if you are a Quentin Tarantino fan, Harvey Keitel, or George Clooney, it is a "must have". as an added bonus if you are a Salma Hayek fan, she is the hottest Vamp on the planet!! if you like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs fan, get this one. it is great.

This is the first Spaghetti western and a superb film. Both Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone are on top form and the storyline, dialogue and action are tremendous. A classic.

I put this in my top 25 greatest westerns. Lots of good actors. Lots of shoot em up. Vengeance is the driving force of the story. Good sub plots. Will be or is a western classic. I bought the box set of Sam Peckinpah's western. Was worth the price for 4 movies and free delivery.
