Please note: I will be giving some of the plot away.

For anyone who views this film and thinks "underage sex" and/or "porn", there are some subtleties that need to be explored.

There is no reason to believe that the Chinaman sought out underage girls. If anything, his station in Chinese royalty probably provided him with female companionship until (and perhaps after) his arranged marriage.

Through no effort on his part the schoolgirl appeared in his orbit and he found himself unable to look away. This is a rare thing to experience and it is awfully hard to resist.

If we generally only see Leung and March having sex, we need to factor in that her jailbait status and the inter-racial nature of their relationship would not have allowed them ... Read More

Paul Pender presents an Oscar worthy performance in this truly outstanding film. Very artistic, yet interesting. Edge of the seat the whole time.

Deneuve is in a subdued role in this film. She's also in a supporting role so the film cover is a bit misleading. The story is not as strong as others that she's chosen.

Daniel Auteuil is great as the cop who is entangled in the life of a trouble-making young woman. Extremely sexy in this role, he plays the role of a strong yet conflicted law enforcer well.

The film is a bit weak in its flow. It's not the worst film but it's also not extremely good either.

VHS : Emmanuelle 2: The Joys of a Woman
An Adult, not rated, film

This is the second film in a "trilogy" (like Asimov's Foundation Trilogy was a Trilogy; i.e. more books and more films followed the trilogy) that stars Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle and spawned a large number of copy-cats (most of which go by the name Emanuelle). This particular film is based on Emmanuelle Arsan's book "L'antivierge." This film has been alternately titled "Emmanuelle 2," "Emmanuelle L'Antivierge," and the US trailer says that this film is titled "Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman."

The second film starts with an older longer-haired Emmanuelle setting sail on a passenger ship in the group sleeping quarters. While lying in the cot that the ship has provided, Emmanuelle starts talking with one of the many women sleeping nearby (some ... Read More

I watched this movie on the Logo channel. They may have taken some parts out I don't know.

Or let me say I hope they took some parts out. If this was the entire contents of the movie they need to add some parts in.

It starts out ok with this cute girl who's a lawyer and other nice looking girls in that same building.

Almost immediately she starts having hallucinations about people who aren't real that sneak up behind her and choke her, etc..

Ok it's getting better I'm thinking.

But it never gets past that point. It just gets bogged down in a lot of symbolism that doesn't mean anything (at least to me).

You've got the kleptomaniac sister who steals for sexual thrills. The little boy who carves words into his skin. The model / stipper. ... Read More

VHS : Breaking the Waves
Set in a remote, repressed, and deeply-religious community in the 1970s Scottish Highlands, Danish film director Lars von Trier's film, Breaking the Waves (1996), chronicles the unusual relationship between Bess McNeill (Emily Watson) and her husband, Jan (Stellan Skarsgård). The film is the first in von Trier's "Golden Heart Trilogy," which also includes The Idiots (1998) and Dancer in the Dark (2000). Bess talks to God. After Jan is paralyzed from the neck down in an oil-rigging accident, she believes that it is God's will that she engage in sex with other men so that she may then share all of the details with Jan. She is further convinced that the more deviant she becomes in her sexual behaviour, the more likely it will be that God will heal Jan. The mesmerising film shows von Trier's realist Dogme 95 influences: ... Read More

Two beautiful actresses, almost identical in their physical appearance, bettle it out on screen. Liv Ullman plays an actress, Elizabeth, who during stage play goes silent (probably every director's nightmare). There is nothing wrong with her physically or empotionally according to the doctor, so she is assigned a young nurse Alma (Bibi Anderson) to take care of her. There is no need for them to stay in the hospital, so doctor let's them use her summer house in hopes that fresh air and rest will aid patient's recovery from the unexplainable illness. As two women settle in house, it is amazing to see them interact in spite of the fact that Elizabeth does not speak at all and the young nurse is doing all the talking. As the time goes by, it is the young nurse who opens herself up bare to her silent companion. It is almost ... Read More

This is the first film in a trilogy (there are actually some other films that followed, just like Asimov's Foundation "Trilogy" ended up being more than three books) that stars Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle and spawned a large number of copy-cats (most of which go by the name Emanuelle). This particular film is based on Emmanuelle Arsan's 1957 book "Emmanuelle." This film also stars Alain Cuny, and Marika Green and co-starred Daniel Sarky, Jeannie Colletin, and Christine Boisson. I've learned to accept Almodovar as he has (ahem) matured & gotten serious. He is my favorite director so I support all his progressions. However! I'm deeply & irrevocably in love with the movie Kika, its colors, its actors, its characters, its music, its dialogue, its spell. Having watched it as much as I have, I've analyzed scenes & themes that otherwise would have escaped a one time viewing only. For example, notice how Ramon kneels in front of three women, for different purposes. First the model in the opening credits as he photographs her in bed. Next, he kneels in front of his dead mother as he opens her blouse to reveal her wound. Finally, in front of Kika as he makes love to her. The posters throughout the film hint at the action to take place in the future scenes. The dialogue is hilarious beyond belief & is not all translated ... Read More
