Everything about Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring is incredibly simple, so simple that it is borderline boring. The film about a young monk who is the understudy of a wise old monk. He starts out as just a boy but grows up with the seasons. They live on and take care of a floating monastery on a lake in the middle of a forest.

The young monk must experience life by himself for many years. As a young teen he is introduced to a young girl who's mother brought her to the floating monastery because of an illness. The girl is sick and can be cured but she will stay on the monastery until she is healthy again. Of course the young monk is curious, he has never seen nor been with a girl. Trying not to ruin the film I will stop here but the monk and the girl meeting basically change ... Read More

VHS : 301/302
301/302 opens with an investigator visiting the residence of 301, a recently divorced woman who is a master chef, after the disappearance of 302 because she is the one who last saw the missing woman. Unperturbed, 301 invites the investigator to have some fried chicken which he states is the best he ever tasted. The film then goes into a series of flashbacks, showing when 301 moved into her apartment neighboring that of 302. A boisterous, talkative woman is a bit put off by the coldness of her neighbor who prefers to not utter a single word than to accept 301's greetings. However, 302's coldness, and her slender figure, entices 301 to get to know her better, so she cooks 302 a mouthwatering meal. Yet, after 301 departs, 302 tosses the food into the fridge and hurries to the restroom to vomit as ... Read More

Thank you master for hitting me with a stick of boredom.

I stopped watching this mess midway through. There is nothing here to keep my attention either with a message or an image. All I asked for was a reason, one silly reason to keep watching, but it can't even come up with one. If you want to be bored, by all means buy or rent this movie, and then tell all your friends the title so you can come off as interesting.

Instead of watching this movie-like object, go read The Outsider by Colin Wilson and thank me for both saving you from this and leading you to something.

VHS : Chunhyang (Sub)
I rented this movie and later bought the dvd (region 1, New Yorker Video). The movie is really good, but I think the dvd is missing an important scene of the 2 main characters after they get together. This scene occurs right before the main actor leaves to finish his education in Seoul. There is a picture of this scene on the back of the dvd case, where Chunhyang, the staring actress, is playing a traditional Korean instrument. If anyone else has experienced this problem of not being able to find this scene while watching the dvd, please post a comment.

Tell Me Something (Yoon-hyun Chang, 1999)

Tell Me Something, Yoon-Hyun Chang's second feature film, is something special, if you're into that sort of thing: a grisly, yet gripping, psychological thriller that goes in its merry way, throwing suspects at you (along with throwing the occasional body part), setting up a cracking mystery, getting detectives to solve it, and then turning everything on its head. I'll warn you: while I found it (including its ending) relatively straightforward, I've read a lot of reviews and posts on the IMDB message board by people who were confused about the ending. Be warned, you've gotta pay attention to this critter.

Detectives Cho (A Bloody Aria's Suk-kyu Han) and Oh (The Isle's Hang-Seon Jang) are assigned what seems a routine murder case, until they realize that ... Read More

After living in Seoul for a couple of years I much enjoyed the scenery but also get the background of the mentality and the hardship the Korean
people has endured.
