VHS : Night of the Twisters
I have no idea what the people who wrote all these other previews were watching but this is the worse movie I have ever seen . . . well almost. Napoleoan Dynamite was bad, but at least it had funny moments.

This is bad effects, horrible acting and very unrealistic scenes. Complete tornado devestation while not a drop of rain or moisture on the ruins, police cars or even the ground!!. Four tornado's his a town and not a single drop of rain! lol. We didn't even finish the movie, but left the room.

VHS : Flight of the Phoenix (1965)
This may not have won any awards, but it is a great story superbly acted by a stellar cast. Infinitely better than the recent trashy remake. The interplay between the characters is finely done and keeps you hooked from start to finish. Best film of 1965 without a doubt and definitely an important addition to anyone's history of cinema collection.

4.A Thousand Heroes starring: Charlton Heston, James Coburn, Richard Thomas, Leon Russom, John M. Jackson

VHS : A Thousand Heroes
This movie was made for TV and again, it proves that Hollywood could learn a lesson from the small movie makers. This movie blew me away! Okay, so it's not an award winning cast but if you forget "John Boy" is in charge and Charlton Heston's presence is a bit large for a TV movie, this story is one you won't forget. And no matter how many times I see the actual crash footage inserted into this movie, I'm still amazed.

And here we are again. Where is the DVD format? There isn't one because this is yet another great movie the execs thought no one would like. If a "bootleg" copy comes along, I'll buy it. I'm tired of waiting for brainless executives to get their heads out of their a-- and put the better movies on DVD!

VHS : Twister
Twister is one of my all-time favorite action movies and have watched it more times than I would like to admit. The best transfer on DVD still left alot to be desired. Now,the the transfer on Blu-Ray has been cleaned up and improved dramatically. It's not reference quality,of course, but I give the picture a solid 4 out of 5 for a movie of this age.I can't comment on the new lossless soundtrack because I am unable to decode yet.
Definitely highly recommended even if you have the latest DVD version.

6.Madam Satan starring: Earl Askam, Tyler Brooke, Albert Conti, Rina De Liguoro, Reginald Denny

I think most reviewers of this film are missing the point of this bedroom farce, namely that during the early years of the
talkie, the studios were desperate to hold onto their audiences;
plus they were all experimenting with the new media. Many stars
that one doesn't associate with the musical genre took part in the musical mania of the era, such as George Raft, John Wayne,
etc.

Plus this was the era of experimental color, the two-strip technicolor process, with added hand tinting. So one will see
some unusual to us now, pairings of stars and genres not "nor-
mally" together.

One has to also get used to the transitional phase of acting on camera to the new technology of sound, and in 1930, this was a
bare three years old!!!!!!!!!!!! Acting techniques used on ... Read More

VHS : Towering Inferno
Arguably the king of the 70's disasters flicks, The Towering Inferno takes a couple of crazy ideas like build a tower 135 floors in San Francisco and let's do it on the cheap. What's the worse that can happen? Blessed with an all star cast and armed with some state of the art (at the time) pyrotechnics, The Towering Inferno, despite the cheese, doesn't fail to thrill you. It's fun to guess who's going to live and who's going to die. Never mind why it takes so long for the fire department to arrive and why didn't everyone just go to the roof and have an arm of helicopters pick them up. Or better yet-blow the tanks earlier. Still, it's good entertainment.

VHS : Speed 2 - Cruise Control
Forget that Speed 2 doesn't beat Speed. Forget that Keanu Reeves doesn't return as Jack Traven. What matters it this: Sandra Bullock is great, William DaFue is just as great, and Jason Patric is also pretty good! The visuals are nothing special, but are still entertaining and enjoyable to watch. It's not a visual feast, like Speed 1, but it most certainly is a suspenseful thriller with some really good acting. I've always like Sandra Bullock, and this just widened my liking of her. Jan De Bont is great with these action films, and although it doesn't match the witty action and suspense of the first movie, it still is a great choice for keeping your heart racing and your adrenaline pumping.

The China Syndrome (Special Edition)
Yet another movie from my Dad's collection. Not only is this movie one of the hardest hitting warnings about modern science, but one of the most entertaining thrillers which I have seen. Jane Fonda, is on the campaign trail again, this time, playing, Kimberly Wells, a budding TV reporter, who's desperate for the chance of that BIG SCOOP. Jack Godell (superbly played by Jack Lemmon), is worried that, the operations, at the cooling system, at the Ventana Nuclear Plant, have been, jeopardised by the falsification of construction reports. He fears that the plant, might not, contain itself, in an emergency, bringing about a melt-down and, theoritically, burning clear through the earth to China. Michael Douglas, produced the movie, and is excellent as the arrogant young camera-man.
