VHS : Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Disney is so obsessed with Hannah Montana and High School Musical, they're forgetting about us "Boomers" who grew up on "The Wonderful World of Disney". A Halloween classic like "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" should not be cast aside. I want to show it to my grandchildren and it's nowhere to be found! This classic version narrated by Bing Crosby never goes out of style. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

VHS : Sleeping Beauty (Fully Restored Limited Edition) (Walt Disney's Masterpiece)
Walt Disney released his greatest artistic masterpiece "Sleeping Beauty" in February of 1959. After spending 6 million dollars and 8 years in the making of this masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty managed to gross 5.3 million at the box office, certainly not enough for Disney to break even on his greatest artistic achievement in animation. Disney spared no expense on Sleeping Beauty, as he used Technicolor and Technirama 70. Technirama 70 was a special system of film running through the camera horizontally, exposing two 35mm frames simultaneously. This unusual film is then printed normally on standard 35mm film and shown with an anamorphic lens for the widescreen, extra dimension effect. Unlike Disney's earlier box office successful films of "Snow White" and "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty" lacked ... Read More

VHS : Fantasia (Walt Disney's Masterpiece)
I have to admit, I'm an avid listener of classical music. So it's a small wonder why Disney's Fantasia is one of my favorite films. Every music sequence is pure gold (except maybe the Pastoral sequence).

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach = My second favorite sequence, it is a mixture of abstract colors & images, live action orchestral playing, and Stokowski's acclaimed orchestration of Bach's organ music.

Nutcracker Suite by Peter Illich Tchaikovsky = Although I'm not a fan of Tchaikovsky's ballet music, this one is very good and entertaining. The dancing of the fairies and flowers and mushrooms make for a heck of a good time for the whole family.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas = This is probably the most exciting rendition of Dukas's ... Read More

My husband and I remember watching this movie as children so of course we wanted to have it for our 8 month old son since it's his first Halloween. We love watching this as a family. They don't make cartoons like this anymore.

VHS : Cinderella (Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection)
Walt said that the animation of Cinderella's dress changing with the wave of the Fairy Godmother's Wand was his favorite piece of animation of all.. I couldn't agree more. It is absolutely sparkling, glittery, magical fun. This movie holds up so well... we enjoy it over and again and it never occurs to me (or my children) that it is well over 50 years old. The story is timeless, the music is charming and we're absolutely wild about Jaq and Gus!

The bonus features on this DVD are okay. The background/history was interesting. Otherwise, I was unimprssed with the bonus music, etc. But then, bonus features for older movies are rarely terrific because the original cast / staff is typically unavailable for interview.

I loved this series, when I first watched in on television back in the '80s. Every couple of years I pull the tape off the shelf and re-watch it.

This is not just for Bryan Brown fans, but for the Gordon Jackson fans in the crowd. Jackson's portrayal of a man who falls in love too late in life, is very touching.

I would love to see it available on DVD!

It has been a very long overdue to release this remarkable movie in DVD. A great film and very moving performance by Joanne Woodward (among her best performances along with her work in Sybil).
