If only this was on DVD, but we can't have everything. Great story and better than fair acting. When it comes out on DVD I'll be buying it again, if only for the scenery.

VHS : Mr Skeffington
You can't get better than Bette Davis in my opinion. Claude Rains is a wonderful male lead, portraying a calm, long-suffering Mr. Skeffington to Bette's selfish, manic Mrs. Skeffington. You won't want to miss a minute.

VHS : All Through the Night
Nazi fifth columnists, led by sinister, sadistic Peter Lorre as Pepi, are infiltrating a city, and big-time gambler Humphrey Bogart is there to weed them out. When a popular baker is found murdered, Bogart investigates. He's led to a warehouse and discovers a room filled with Nazi paraphernalia and a book that explains what happened to the baker (he also gets a lot of help from Kaaren Verne, who has been forced to play along with the Nazis). In a fiery climax, while a motorboat packed with explosives is being directed toward a battleship to blow it up, Bogart takes control, sees Lorre get killed, and then steers the boat away from the ship before diving overboard to safety. He gets a hero's welcome, of course, and Verne. Lorre is excellent as the evil Pepi, killing at will and at another point smashing ... Read More

In New York Rick views a store window to check for a shadow, and uses an old trick to shake this rough shadow. [A smooth shadow must have been watching.] We learn of his secret mission.

Rick talks to Miss Marlow and notices another man following them. Back at the ship Rick saves Doctor ... Read More

VHS : Harriet Craig
This is one of my favorite Joan Crawford movies and is very hard to find. I absolutely love the story line of this movie. It really shows how controlling individuals really end up very, very lonely and alone in the end. It is more like a reality check and eye opener movie for controllers.

7.Affair in Trinidad starring: Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, Alexander Scourby, Valerie Bettis, Torin Thatcher

VHS : Affair in Trinidad
Affair In Trinidad (1952) was made to re-team Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford who created such a sensation in Gilda in 1946. On it's own, Affair In Trinidad, is a very enjoyable Film Noir mystery thriller with a couple of steamy song and dance routines executed beautifully, as only Rita Hayworth can do. However, in a side by side comparison to Gilda, it is a disappointment, but still worth watching, none-the-less. For those of you who have never seen Gilda, do yourself a favor, and watch it. Gilda is one of the truly great films of the 1940s. You will not be disappointed in this Film Noir mystery thriller, with great performances, some snappy dialog and a few twists and turns that will hold your attention to the very end.

8.Adventures of Don Juan starring: Errol Flynn, Viveca Lindfors, Robert Douglas, Alan Hale, Romney Brent
directed by: Vincent Sherman

VHS : Adventures of Don Juan
Errol Flynn's last big swashbuckler is a delightful, sometimes bittersweet farewell to both the movie roles & real-life escapades that made him famous ... and a bit notorious. Clearly playing off his womanizing reputation, he seems to be having a good time as Don Juan, tinged with a bit of wistful nostalgia & regret. Hard living has taken its toll, but he's still up for one last grand adventure!

What makes his performance especially interesting is that blurring between role & real life. Don Juan is well aware that all the lovely & ardent women who throw themselves so eagerly at him are drawn by his larger-than-life image -- the actual human being is a bit of an afterthought, really. And while he's more than happy to oblige the ladies in living out their fantasies, he's aware that he's playing a role for them, and for ... Read More

9.Lone Star (1951) starring: Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, Broderick Crawford, Lionel Barrymore, Beulah Bondi
directed by: Vincent Sherman
September 01, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Lone Star (1951)
Lone Star was scripted by Borden Chase whose name adorns many an outstanding Western -notably Red River;Bend of the River and The Far Country .Lone Star is not in the same class as these movies partly because they had directors with exceptional talent in Hawks and Anthony Mann , while Lone Star is directed by the studio hack Vincent Sherman. In part the reason lies with the script .Chase was the co-founder of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals ,a body designed to worship at the altar of the repulsive Senator McCarthy and his script here is biased and one sided in its consideration of the issues posed by the movie.
The setting is Texas in the 1840's when the then independent Republic is torn between maintaining its status or becoming part of the Union.Texan cattle baron Burke -played with customary forthrightness by ... Read More

VHS : Hasty Heart
In the Hasty Heart Richard Todd gives a great performance as Lachy, a stubborn, proud young Scot soldier dying of kidney failure due to a wound received in battle in Burma in 1945 - days after the end of the war. Lachy isn't told he's dying, but the other patients in the army hospital - mostly English, with one aborigine and one American nicknamed "Yank" (Ronald Reagan, later president) - are asked to comfort him. The results are insightful, poignant, and sometimes quite humorous, as Lachy doesn't want to make friends, but still not knowing his own prognosis, falls in love with the nurse (Patricia Neal, of The Day The Earth Stood Still, In Harm's Way etc.).

The Hasy Heart is one of the best movies Ronald Reagan had a big role in, perhaps the best next to Kings Row, though he had bigger roles in less famous movies like Hong Kong, in which ... Read More
