This movie has the best dancers ever! A dancer tries to leave the USSR after a plane crash but they want to force him to stay to dance in the country. His roomates want to leave with him after they find out the wife is pregnant. Excellent movie I used to watch this movie over and over again as a child and now that I have it on DVD I'm sure I will again!

VHS : Officer & A Gentleman
It is great to watch a young and buff Richard Gere evolve from a self-serving bad boy to a caring and involved friend. I absolutely love the scene where Zach helps Segar walk the wall of the obstacle course, including watching the guys go wild with happiness over their triumph.

Debra Winger is a good actress, and you have to hand it to both Gere and Winger that they could pull this movie off when their lack of rapport was legendary. To be fair to Gere, Winger (at least at that time) was known as a habitual problem child on the set of this and other movies. I believe shortly after filming AOAAG she went into rehab.

I enjoy this movie for a lot of reasons, but I would hate for young girls to watch this and think that the young women (Paula and Lynette) could be so easy and ... Read More

The main reason I got this movie was because I had heard parts of it were shot on Isla Mujeres, a little island off of Cancun where I love to travel. I did recognize the scenes from there, plus there are good scenes of Tulum as well. The plot is pretty basic...Kurt Russell is a football player who loses his job. James Woods hires him to look for his girlfriend (Rachel Ward) who left him and ran off to Mexico. Russell finds her and they fall in love, but Ward has some quirky personality traits and ends up back in the states with Woods. I kind of lost interest when the plot shifted to the states. It's definitely not the best movie these three have done, but it's worth it for the scenes of Mexico.

VHS : The Devil's Advocate
Did anyone notice that the Satan's name in this entertaining-but-flawed flick is Milton, and that the marble reliefs which come to tantalizing life on Al Pacino's wall also allude to the great English poet's masterpiece?

I feel that "Devil's Advocate" has some good material, including touches of humor, some stunning cinematographic effects, and the performances by Ms. Theron and Al Pacino, who chews the scenery with such devilish panache that he dominates Keanu Reeves (but perhaps that is the point). And while the film, which combines legal ethics (or the lack of them) with the "Rosemary's Baby" genre, held my interest from start to finish, it did not quite come together--whether because of choppy editing or the "Dallas" option that precedes the ending, I am not certain. I did find the actual ending, however, ... Read More

I literally take my hat off to you for a superb remake of this classic
film. New DTS and Dolby dig. audio are fantastic. I saw the original release in 1987 and to this day its still my favorite rock documentary. I was born in the late fourties and grew up listening to Chuck and others.
His influence shows itself in my Guitar playing to this day and I'm now in
my early sixties. Thanks for the memories,, Robert Gonzales.

VHS : Ray
"Ray" is what I would describe as a standard Hollywood version of a high budget biography film. What makes this movie special is the subject; Ray Charles. We get a somewhat complex picture of Ray Charles with interspersed flash backs to give us "deep background". It was generally known that Mr. Charles had his weakness for drugs but I didn't realize how strong the addiction was. The acting is very good but I had a real problem understanding much of the dialogue of Jimmie Foxx; the actor who plays Mr. Charles. I don't recall Ray Charles as a mumbler although I don't know that I saw him all that much in interviews or talk shows. However, if it was the was he spoke, there was no need to put that into the movie and leave many in the audience scratching their heads and wondering what he said. For this he won the Best Actor ... This is a very good movie. It shows how someone with care/love can take care of a person they love that has dementia and can't take care of themselves anymore. Also to honor that person that has the dementia.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5. I'm from East L.A. and this shows what it was like back in the day, pretty close. The only thing I didn't like was the pinche hüero's acting but besides that, it was all good.
