VHS : Under The Rainbow
Well if you like little people and I tend to stay away from the words "dwarf" or "migit" because to me that's cruel. But, if you love or like little people this movie is for you. Rollo Sweet an aspiring dreamer that wants to go to Hollywood and be famous expect a telegram from the film company. While everyone in the boarding house was listening to the President of The United States giving a speech and by the way this took place around the 1930's so you'll see old timy cars in it, so there was no television invented yet so they had to listen to the President on the radio. When the aerial fell down, Rollo went out to fix it and when he lost his balance or got diverted, he fell to the ground in a dream. And in the dream everyone that was in his reality, is in the dream. You'll see cameos ... Read More

VHS : Can't Buy Me Love
"Can't Buy Me Love" is a charming 80s classic that never gets old. I've always had alot of affection for this film, and was pleased to locate a copy on Amazon. This was from Patrick Dempsey's pre-Grey's Anatomy, feature film stardom period. He turned out several funny, heartwarming, & charming films during this time. I personally wish he would stick to films and bid adieu to Grey's Anatomy & Dr. Derek Shepard. While I am a big fan of both GA and Dempsey, I really have no love for "McDreamy" as a character/sex symbol--WAY overrated in my POV!!!

This is a corn-ball comedy that I thought I'd hate and ended up laughing until the tears were coming from my eyes.

The setup is well done, the story very funny, and then it ends with--well you find out.

If you like to laugh this movie is for you.

VHS : Buddy Holly Story
Despite that a lot of factual information was omitted from this portrait of Buddy Holly, this movie is a compelling, insightful portrait of the mesmerizing character of Buddy Holly himself. Sure, there are glaring omissions concerning the real Crickets and Norm Petty, the 'manager' that helped Buddy get his start--nevertheless, the portrait Gary Busey paints of Buddy is a fascinating, driving and complex picture of an immensely talented, driven, and totally amazing young man who had an unerring faith in his own ability and unsurpassed talent and conviction that he understood and heralded what would become known as rock and roll....the faults in this movie can be overlooked--it is easy enough to find the truth in the in depth biographies of Buddy Holly available. It is far harder to find that fascinating grain ... Read More

I admit it, they got me! I had already finished my shopping when I looked up on the shelf and saw this. Wow! A new one (to me) by Jamie Foxx and it has Nia Long in it? I love Jamie Foxx. He's a natural talent, someone I feel like I can relate too. Nia? Whatever she's selling, I'm buying. I don't care what it is, cars, clothes, music, just send her my way and she has a customer. But this film was sad. Nia isn't even in half of the movie!!! I must admit I waited for a laugh to come. I even tried forcing one at times, only to realize I was the only one laughing...

I think the other point that sold me on this was that it was less than ten bucks. Thinking back, there were a ton of these on the shelf and I even remember others standing in line snickering and shaking their heads as if too say, "he'll figure ... Read More

I have been looking for this since I saw it on tv in 1987! I finally figured out what it was called and found it.

I was 20 then and I really enjoyed this, it's nostalgic, lots of things you remember from family road trips, with funny twists. For example: Rich talks to a guy who bought a bunch of those huge plactic slides like at the state fair who hopes to go nationwide with them. He is explaining that he got that particular one cheap because they installed it upside down. "See that hump there? It's supposed to be at the top, not the bottom" As he's telling Rich this a guy comes flying through the air behind them screaming. It's hilarious and made more so because they dont react to the screaming guy.

Also, a young Kyle Petty has a scene in it that was pretty funny but I cant remember what it ... Read More

VHS : Good Advice
I saw this on the TV awhile ago and liked it so well I bought the DVD.

This is not Shakespeare but....I found it quite entertaining and funny. Charlie Sheen does a nice job, as does Angie Harmon and the rest of the cast, which includes a nice comedic turn by Estelle Harris, aka George's mom.

Sheen plays a greed driven stock broker, who is a bit of a sexist pig as well. He then finds his inner feminine side, and finds love with Angie Harmon (aided greatly by Harris), as he takes over an advice column from his ex lover, played by Denise Richards. He is assisted by Jon Lovitz and Rosanna Arquette as his odd married friends. There is a Barry Newman siting as well as Sheen's bitter enemy.

No cool extra's on this DVD to speak of, just this nice romantic comedy.
