VHS : Disney's 101 Dalmatians
Modern technology has taken live-action filmmaking to limitless heights, but there are still some stories that are more suited for feature-animation. Dodie Smith's "The Hundred and One Dalmatians" is one of them. Walt Disney knew this and his "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" is one of the most loved animated films of all time. Unfortunately, director John Hughes did not and his live-action remake, "101 Dalmatians, comes up short in the end.

It is not a bad film, but it is incredibly awkward and extremely unfocused at times. Instead of a seamless blend of animal and human characters, we are now forced to get involved almost solely with the two-legged heroes of the picture, which is occasionally sweet, but obviously not right for a film that is supposed to be about dogs. Pongo and ... Read More

VHS : Mighty Ducks

The kids classic The Mighty Ducks does everything right; case-end-point, Although there is much to be said for this beloved Disney tale.

Gordon Bombay(Emilio Estevez) was once a boy who loved hockey more then anything, when his father passes away and he loses the final shot for his team and their pee-wee championship he's scarred for life, and turns to a dark future as a no-good defense lawyer. When he gets court mandated community service to coach a pee-wee hockey team, (which seem to look more like a group of misfits then any sort of team) his hatred of children becomes a love, which leads him back to his greater love of the game itself.

The cast of children is full of wide-eyed talent, lead by an adorable Charlie(Joshua Jackson) and hilarious Goldberg(Shaun Weiss) that still ... Read More

VHS : Critters
CRITTERS is my favorite movie of it's type. I like it even more than GREMLINS (which I love), and far more than any of the other "puppet-monster" movies that came out (Ghoulies, Hobgoblins, etc.). CRITTERS takes us to the tiny town of Grovers Mill, Kansas, the site of an alien invasion. It seems that a renegade bunch of crites ( little, furry, carnivorous space monsters) have escaped from intergalactic prison, and headed straight toward earth for a snack (us)! This leads to a night of horror and hilarity, when the rolly creatures arrive and begin eating any / all flesh in sight! Two extraterrestrial bounty hunters are dispatched to hunt down and destroy the crites before they can fully satisfy their insatiable appetites. The bounty hunters are hilarious, as they can make themselves look like anyone they encounter, which ... Read More

VHS : The Three Musketeers (Walt Disney Pictures Presents)
When I first saw this movie, I liked it. The Dumas's fans can object that this movie is not a screen version of his novel. And I will say - that's why it's good. If you show The Three Musketeers with dramatic end to the child, he will be upset. But Disney studio made this film precisely for children of 10-13 years old. Who minds a happy end?

This is certainly not one of Wahlberg's best flicks, but you can't help but like the movie. Most of this is due to Wahlberg really getting into the role. Jennifer Anniston is mediocre as usual. All in all, just a fun movie to watch.
