I saw this movie a long time ago on HBO and remembered it as being a good movie and very interesting. I took it out the other day and put it in and watched it again. I must say that it seems dated now. I would like to see them remake Barry Seals story now. Hopper is ok but he pretty much is 'Dennis Hopper' with a fake accent. The movie is still good and informative but it just seems like and early 80's movie. The characters are kind of cartoonish and the acting is kind of second rate and that takes away from the realism.

VHS : The James Bond Collection
Okay, these sets suck. Come on, this is James friggin' Bond here!!! We can do better than this. Here's my idea of how to handle the Bond box sets, and with any luck in 2010 they'll this to me. As much as I'd love to see one huge box set, that just wouldn't work. First of all it would be simply too big and too expensive, and second of all with new Bond movies every few years it would be out of date rather quickly. So do them by decades. Dig it - the Bond collection volume 1: The 60's. You could do all the movies released after 62's Dr. No but before 1970, and still have room for a really cool bonus disc. Granted, some volumes would be heftier than others (the 90's would be a bit slim), but with no end in sight for the Bond franchise this seems the best way too go. Plus, if you're like ... Read More

VHS : Geronimo
This is the story of Geronimo beginning with his younger years. The true story of Geronimo will never be fully told because of the wide variety of myths, army documents, and Apache oral history. However this film held much accuracy.
It begins with Goyaa³é in his youth as you meet his mother, sister, and best friend. After a brutal attack by the Mexican army Goyaa³é changes from a naive hunter into Geronimo; a daring Apache warrior that must fight to save his hunted tribe.
There is much brutality in this movie but I still recommend it to anyone desiring to know more about Geronimo's epic saga. He is hero to some, enemy to many but from all that he has endured one understands why his tactics were so brutal. Other movies tend to focus on Geronimo during his years of war but this movie ... GULAG (1985)
directed by Roger Young
approx. 2 hours

An American athlete staying in the Soviet Union is thrown into a prison camp on frivolous charges. He befriends some Russian prisoners but is seperated from them and placed in a section of the camp for foreign prisoners. He attempts to devise an escape plan even though most of his peers say it is impossible.

This movie shows the effect that incarceration can have on someone- it can mold you into a dismal inanimate object or it will make you thirst for freedom. Many of the gulag prisoners wanted to be free but convinced themselves that it could never happen. The British prisoner (played by Malcolm McDowell) starts off by bullying the American prisoner and ridiculing his optimism, but later becomes a close friend. ... Read More

Movie making doesn't get any better than "Two Of A Kind!" This is one of the most deeply moving films I have ever had the the privilege to watch! The chemistry between Robby Benson and George Burns is magnificent! The acting is so phenomenal, I'm going to locate any film Robby Benson has ever made! I miss George Burns, and I have never seen him in a drama before! At first, I almost didn't recognize him! He was that good!

This is a story about two men on the fringes of American society: an elderly man in a nursing home who is suffering from a deep depression and at the same time, being over medicated; and his mildly retarded grandson, who also happens to be very clever and tough! He cuts through all the B.S. and gets the job done! He is truly a man!

"Two Of A Kind" will remind ... Read More
