Being we never had a stateside release of this film on dvd, lets see a U.S.A. blu-ray release! The music is awesome, the acting is incredible (esp on Joan Jett and Gena Rowlands behalf).

I have copies on VHS tape, but I just upgraded everything in my entertainment center to hi-def 1080P plasma and bluray. In otherwords, there is no more vcr in my entertainment center!

Blu-ray would make this movie even more incredible!

A bit of trivia for you:

Born In The U.S.A.

Not many people remember that this film was originaly slated to be titled "Born in The U.S.A.". Then Bruce released the tune he wrote for this film on his album titled of the same name (and he was originally to be cast in the film as well). An out of court agreement ... Read More

VHS : Witch Hunt (1994)
I have been waiting for years for this movie to make it to dvd.To say that this movie is quirky is an understatement.
It follows a detective played beautifully by Dennis Hopper as he tries to solve a murder. What is unusual is
that the average Joe uses magic as part of his daily routine,i.e.want to take out your trash, simply think it
and its done or want to be beautiful have someone cast
a spell and its done.
Hopper vehemently refuses to use magic eventhough he knows how.We get to follow him as meets a cast of quirky characters who use magic and try to help him solve the
murder.
Its just a fun movie.

Well, I love Schrader and his moralistic style, to begin with. But anyway, Blue Collar has held up pretty well through the years, despite the changing face of the American workplace. It's a great movie, an American classic.

VHS : Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters
Paul Schrader has crafted a unique movie viewing experience. Using a combination of styles, he renders a psychological biography of one of the most fascinating and enigmatic personalities in the history of Japan. Schrader goes directly to the source and acts out Mishima's own words in the form of narration and enacting scenes from Mishima's novels. Adding to this, he acts out Mishima's final day when Mishma committed seppuku as a political protest. He also makes heavy use of flashbacks to tell Mishima's lifestory. This three layered storytelling would be ambitious enough in any form but Schrader further layers it by making each of the three novel scenes bold and different from each other.

Each of the three novel scenes has a unique color scheme. Schrader is bold and unsparing in using Mishima's ... Read More

The previous reviews of this film are great, so I won't praddle on - just want to add a couple notes. Though I'm a Schrader fan and film buff, I was never aware that this "Trilogy" existed and enjoyed this film on its own. This film is not Taxi Driver, one of the greatest American films ever made, but it also does not carry the over-bearing weight of that film, and can be "enjoyed", with an anti-hero which we can more readily identify. The style is minimalist with great visual touches and choices by Schrader (with some moments that are quiet but extremely revealing), fun dialogue and interesting characters. The subtext dealing with aging drug dealer DeFoe's insomniac character LaTour, confronting his "lost dreams" as the "garbage" of his past piles up (set against a New York waste haulers' strike) is compelling and strong thematically. ... VHS : Patty Hearst
Paul Schrader's superb direction and Natasha Richardson's hard hitting performance as Patty should have been a shoe-in to win on Oscar night. Film captures in great detail the terror felt by Hearst, tortured by kidnappers and forced to participate in bank robberies. Ending also is effective in the way it redicules the state's case at her trial (ex. The DA asks if she ever sent her parents any birthday cards) but I won't give the rest away. Like most movies, the lack of backing from a major studio probably reduced critic's reviews by a few stars.

Do you know where you are???? Your'e on the other side of the mirror. Wow that line along with what do you want? Want? I'll show you what I want!! And boom there goes Walkens Character over the edge into madness. I loved this movie for its atmosphere and great setting in Venice with terrific script and wonderful off-kilter performances from the main four actors. This one along with Dont look Now and Talented Mr Rilpey make a great trio of Terror from Italy. Love to see these three at a Drive -In. Wow. Just Great.

9.Cat People starring: Nastassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, John Heard, Annette O'Toole, Ruby Dee

Kinski and Heard are starstruck lovers burdened by the fact that she will turn into a ferocious beast. The set design, the cast, the moody atmospheric score all combine to make a artistic statement. Some of the visuals are cheaply disturbing, when Malcolm changes from man to beast leaving slime everywhere and Kinski naked for no apparent reason. But overall the film captures the feline essence of a femme fatale and a man obsessed.
