VHS : Canterville Ghost (1944)
I saw this black & white movie Canterville Ghost(1944) years ago. The cowardly ghost was funny. I was excited to find it on Amazon. The ghost tries to scare the guest instead they scare the cowardly ghost. Once again I enjoyed watching it but it wasn't as funny as I remembered. I also purchased the newer version in color of Canterville Ghost(1986)staring John Gielgud, Ted Wass, Andrea Marcovicci, and Alyssa Milano. This Canterville ghost wants the new owners out and is very mischief. We enjoyed both movies.

VHS : The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
One of the all time classic comedic actors, Danny Kaye gives a charming and varied performance as day dreamer Walter Mitty. A helpless hopeful who works for a publishing company and constanly gets himself into trouble by dreaming his life more fantastic. Whether it be doctor, fighter pilot or gambling gentleman, he becomes the man he wishes he could be but is absolutely not. Charming, debonaire, brave and sophisticated. The real Walter Mitty posesses none of these attributes.

Things take a turn for him though as he finds himself mixed up with a beautiful woman who's in trouble and involved in a dangerous plan to retrieve a book containing locations for some hidden WWII paintings. A former nazi named "The Boot" is also aware of the book and will kill anyone in the way of securing it for himself. ... Read More

VHS : It's a Gift
"Sit down Mr. Muckle, sit down honey." "WHERE ARE MY KUMQUATS???!!!"

This perfect comedy is, for my money, the funniest film W.C. Fields ever made, and that's not faint praise. Small town grocer Harold Bissonette takes his family to California when his Uncle "Bean" dies and he inherits an orange grove. This road trip comes sometime past the halfway point of the picture. And what has taken up the first half? Just some of the funniest set pieces Fields ever devised.

First there is his harrassed home life, put-upon by everyone from his shrewish wife to his son Norman's errant and deadly rollerskates. Then there is his harried working life with the furiously impatient customer yelling for his kumquats while Fields attempts to keep the blind Mr. Muckle from destroying every light bulb in his stock with no help ... Add a star (****) for the picture; subtract a star (**) for the lousy colorization. Whatever happened to the original b&w version?

Cary Grant and Constance Bennett are two recently deceased fun-loving, rich party-goers who come back to haunt the life of straight-laced banker Cosmo Topper (played by Roland Young). Bennett turns Topper's life so upside-down that he leaves his wife to have a good time with her. Of course it's all made right again before too much damage is done. The first 1/3 and the last 1/3 are the best parts; the middle part sort of drags. The picture is lots of fun. Worth a watch.
