If you own only one classic musical film get this one first. It is a wonderful integration of music into a story. A brilliant translation to the wide screen. And Topol is outstanding in his somewhat underplayed (relatively speaking) performance which allows the rest of the cast their moments of glory. It may not represent the poverty of the Russian shtetl, but it is a warm, ingratiating story of how one man came to accept the modern world. And a little bit of ancestral cultural feeling. And shows why groups often reject change as it tears down the traditions that sustain their human pride in a dizzy political mire that was Eastern Europe for Jewry. Just wonderful technically in its use of the wide canvas of Panavision. Let's look for a blu ray DVD soon...

Still laughing at this classic comedy after all these years. The "Red Scare" in this little New England village is brilliantly portrayed by wonderful actors. So glad it is part of our collection. Good way to diffuse stress.

This is a fabulous movie. Great plot, cute kids, clean humor (even the adult parts) without being cheesy and old fashioned. This is my absolute favorite Doris Day movie. Every actor, including the kids, pulls it off so believably. I highly recommend this movie for every Doris Day or James Garner fan and even those who aren't.

All the men are stupid jerks who screw up their own lives and the lives of those around them. Fortunately for the safety of New York City, all of the women are wise, patient and nurturing, and manage to get the bozos back on track. No wonder my wife thinks this is the best movie of all time!

I remember watching this film on TV when I was a kid.

In the 1990's I grabbed it the minute it was released on video tape.

Where the heck is the DVD of this for Disney/Disneyland fans?

The first film at Disneyland.

Story a simple 1960's film. I liked Suzanne's character.

Interesting to see old casinos.

Disneyland fan I am seeing the park in color early 1960's is great. Monorail & Matterhorn. Incorrect shots-getting off the Monorail & they are looking at Sleeping Beauty Castle?

Apparently Walt moved it for the film? Ha ha.

The use of the park I thought was great.

Whether you are a Disney fan or not and just looking for a simple, no curse words, no nudity comedy then you can enjoy this ... Read More

Great Flick! Classic in my opinion which is why I purchased it. I enjoy looking at my classics at least once a year. Unfortuantely, this movie does not appear on TV much.

I always loved this movie. The first time I saw it I was around 16 years-old, living in Brazil and took my mother to see it. I was impressed with the way the story was told. I loved Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson immediately. Then I came to New York and bought the LP of the film and listened all the time. Then moved to U.S.A. and here, in Denver, they announced the play and I went - and I finally saw Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson on the stage - I'll never forget! I bought the VHS and I was in heaven. Then I bought the DVD and was more than happy. And, finally, I bought this Special Edition and already lost the count how many times I saw it. The feature commentary with director Norman Jewison and Ted Neeley is unbelievable and they call the attention of the viewer for details, explain the scenes and the way they were done -it's ... After directing Doris Day in 1963's still-hilarious The Thrill of It All!, Norman Jewison showed similar comic sensibilities with this screwball 1964 marital farce complemented by a sharp screenplay by longtime veteran Julius Epstein. This one represents something of a departure in that Day and Rock Hudson, in their third and last pairing, play a married couple from the outset. As George and Judy Kimball, they are a happily married suburban couple hamstrung by his persistent hypochondria. Convinced that he is dying after a regular check-up, George spends the rest of the story preparing for what he thinks will be his imminent death, including setting up Judy with her next husband, a former suitor whom they literally run into at their country club.

Unlike the previous two films, Hudson actually dominates this movie, ... Read More
