When I got the tape it was in perfect condition. It also came with a bag of popcorn for the entertainment! I was very happy with my purchase since this was a movie that my sisters and I saw a long time ago and from the heavens above(my dad) we were able to come up with the name of the movie. Thanks

There were a lot of humorous surprises in this movie. For starters, James Garner lives with his mother and is a nerdy weather buff! Then there's Kim Novak, who takes to the role of a seductress with aplomb, only a minute after she arrives for what she thought was an apartment inspection. The 1950s-style paternalism all the men dish out to Novak in spite of their lurid extramarital fantasies is downright charming. I give this movie two thumbs up, and am sure you will too.

This is an adorable romantic comedy starring the ever classy Doris Day and handsome Rock Hudson. I don't quite understand the concept these two people sharing a party-line-but maybe that's just a generation thing. Randall is also funny, his character reminds me of a pre- Woody Allen and Richard Lewis shtick. And Thelma Ritter was just hilarious. I did think Forbe's love for Jan ended abruptly and the doctor who really thought there was the possibility of a pregnant man roaming around-a bit over the top. But all in all, this movie does deliver a smile on your face at the end.

This fantastic remake of an old Cary Grant movie about a woman who returns home after being pronounced dead is one that can be watched over and over by the whole family. It is one of Doris Day's best and James Garner makes a great partner for her in this film. There are other great supporting players, though Polly Bergen seems to be miscast. Doris's "massage" where she references the old Cary Grant movie is hilarious! A movie worth getting!

VHS : Portrait in Black
Producer Ross Hunter was responsible in the late 1950's and early 1960's of reviving the careers of numerous top flight leading ladies that had earlier experienced lulls in their careers. He totally transformed the career of Doris Day with the classic "Pillow Talk",in 1959. Another of his successful collaborations was with veteran actress Lana Turner who starred in a series of highly glossy and very successful dramas for Hunter. "Portrait in Black", marked their second collaboration after the highly successful "Imitation of Life", the previous year. While certainly not as strong a film as that effort "Portrait in Black", is a beautiful looking, highly entertaining melodrama involving infidelity, murder, and deceit set against the plush surroundings of San Francisco's exclusive Nob Hill district. The reason is simple. Money. Copyright laws have changed in recent years and this requires that each and every song that is used in a particular episode, even if the song only played for a few seconds, must be licensed. This takes time and, more importantly money. It is quite possible that, in order to get complete episodes on DVD with the same music could make a DVD set prohibitively expensive for most people and thus it will be priced out of the market. They could replace some of this music with cheaper, generic tunes, but when that has been done in syndicated airings of WKRP longtime fans have revolted.

There is some encouraging news, however. Amazon is now collecting e-mail addresses of people who want to see WKRP released on DVD. Just enter "WKRP" in a DVD search and give them your e-mail ... Read More

I've waited for a release of this movie for twenty years. " BUT ", the waiting was invain. My old VCR (worn out) tape may not have as good a picture, but at least "it has all the words" !!!! This video skips the most important offencing words. What, is this show rated PG now when it comes to words like "Barbarian"? ( Before the duel at the theatre of Burgogne ). And further on it skips and goes mute in the most intricate parts of his verbal attacs. I am very sad and will have to keep searching for a complete rendition of this ever so romantic and amazing show.

Sorry to disagree with the other reviewers, but I just didn't find this show believable. There is no Minnesota State and there isn't an NFL team called the Breakers. If you can't get the facts straight in the beginning how do you expect to win a viewers trust as the show moves on. And Jerry Van Dyke as a football coach? Was Don Knotts not available?
