VHS : Steel (1997)
This was a solid movie. Too much garbage comes out today that is "critically acclaimed." With $16 million they did a nice job with the sets, filming of action sequences, and special effects to make this movie far more than watchable. A little chessey but very entertaining. There are solid moral lessons that are taught here that the youth of today need to see, understand, and embrace. Shaq's acting, contrary to popular opinion, is pretty good. Very easy to root for STEEL. A man's man. Kids, especially black kids, need to see strong black men take control of thier lives and make a positive and lasting impact on their families and their communities. Most of the people who reviewed this movie here on Amazon.com proabably just don't care about that. Buy it or rent it. It's nice to own ... Read More

If you like really bad dialoge, lousy action scenes, and weak casting then anything by Ken Johnson would do. This mini-series is a joke, The Johnson commentery and short featurtte is a joke, and as useual it is packaged with Warner Brothers second rate DVD standards.

This is extraordinary acting - vincent D'Onofrio, Andre Braugher (always fabulous in this series) and the other great "Homicide" cast - but this story is amazing. Seemed almost more like a stage production than film/television. I saw the story as a metaphor - life, death, the meaning, the randomness versus design of it all, responsibility/lack thereof, the train....all of it. Extremely powerful in every way. Original, powerful, brilliant work.

I actually loved the show and the TV pilot that once aired on CBS and soon got back to TV like on SCI-FI when I 1st catch the premiere of the back-to-back episodes. Yep this is not something to disappoint, it's a great movie that shows a real side of Bruce Banner (whom Stan Lee, the founder of Marvel Comics) changed to David 'cuz Bruce was too homosexual. Reason why they did that 'cuz of the reason of the name. So they add it along the TV series from '78 until it's demise in 1982. So sad Bill Bixby is not here. He was a good actor and definitely my all-time favorite stars. He's such a good man and I miss him deerly. Wish if he would've stay long. But long period short, it started off when David Banner begin losing his wife from an automobile accident, soon transformed into a doctor along with his associtate Dr. Elaina Marks (played ... Typically if I want to get a friend's reaction to my favorite drama ever, I'll have them sit down and watch these three episodes with me. They represent some of the finest acting and cinematography I've seen in quite some time.

1) The Pilot: "Gone for Goode" - It's Tim Bayliss' (Kyle Secor) first day on the Homicide Unit commanded by Al Giardello (Yaphet Kotto) and the introduction to the cast of characters begins: John Munch (Richard Belzer), the cynical jaded but dedicated cop partnered with the "close to retirement" Stan Bolander (Ned Beatty), Meldrick Lewis (Clark Johnson) is partnered with Steve Crosetti (Jon Polito) and Kay Howard (Melissa Leo) is partnered with Beau Felton (Daniel Baldwin). The wildcard in the unit is Frank Pembleton, the unit's best detective who likes to work alone. Lewis and Crosetti investigate a shooting ... Read More
