No need to be put off by this rating I personally love this movie. I am exploitation -enthusiasts and would have rated it much higher but instead I save myself for being a bias. Fashionable feminism, utterly unwarranted nudity, catfights, overdramatic dialogue are all right here in "The Arena," a lavish spectacle (by New World standards) in which the audience is treated to Caged Heat in gladiator drag. Of course, most DVD buyers will probably want to snag this one up for Pam Grier, doing by far the most explicit and unabashed nudity of her career. Luckily, it also happens to be quite a fun film.

The Roman Empire was at its height (and right after the Spartacus revolt, as one minor character is quick to point out), the Romans took delight in pillaging other cultures, slaughtering ... Read More

I wasn't expecting all that much from this movie, but bought it based on the few clippings that I saw on youtube. The costumes look pretty good, although I suspect the movie as a whole suffered from a low special effects budget. The story isn't half bad even though the pacing of the movie is pretty much off kilter or non existant. The other weakness of this film is the fighting sequences - there is no blood anywhere - not even on the sword. And people go down in only 1 or 2 hits making for a less than satisfying viewing of an action film (I guess this makes sense from a safety point of view - I can here someone saying "OK, make sure nobody's eyes get poked out - so everybody do the action sequences carefully and slowly").
And no, there is no nudity in here just in case you wanted to know ... Read More

A female journalist named Emmanuelle is sent to South American to investigate the last existing cannibal tribe ever known to man. She brings a crew of misfits with her on her dangerous journey even if she has to do it with the male crew members and will the cannibals eat them all especially Emmanuelle?

One of the most gruesomest and sleaziest films in the cannibal genre from Italy but very enjoyable. Yes the acting sucks but there is some gruesome scenes of cannibalism and gore such as nipple eating, castration, genital stabbing, torso ripping etc. and what's refreshing for some viewers is that it tones down on the usual use of actual animals getting killed on film with the exception of a live Python getting shot in the head. Though not nearly as hard to watch as "Cannibal Holocaust" but almost ... Read More

This is quite possibly one of the worst movies of the modern era, and it's just a darned shame that MST 3000 never got hold of it.

That said, this is a FANTASTIC party flick. Slap it in the VCR and settle in for a couple hours of mockery and hooting. The movie closes with what is quite possibly one of the worst miniature sequences EVER done. It's beyond painful.
