VHS : Cold Sassy Tree
This is a pleasant little Hallmark Hall of Fame film based upon the book of the same name by Olive Ann Burns. It a film that takes place in a very small, sleepy southern town around the turn of the century where an elderly gentleman, a Mr. Blakeslee (Richard Widmark), runs a general store in which he employs a very attractive, middle-aged milliner with the unlikely name of Miss Love Simpson. She is an outsider and a non-southerner, an attractive independent woman who is looked at a bit askance by the town's residents.

The town is turned upside down when three weeks after the death of his wife, Mr. Blakeslee proposes to Miss Love, and she accepts. They get married, much to the chagrin of the Blakeslee family who must grin and bear it. They are outraged that he is recently widowed and ... Read More

I am on a mission to see every John Belushi film. He was a comic genius and is a screen legend. Tune into Biography for the 30th Anniversary special of Animal House to tide youself over until this great film becomes available on DVD. I read on [...] that this is scheduled for a December 2025 release. Maybe that is when they are planning to release a John Belushi box set, but who knows what format we will be using in 17 years?

VHS : Tenth Month
"The Tenth Month" is a made-for-TV movie that surpasses anything that Carol Burnett has done. This is perhaps one of her most touching performances. What's sad is that this movie is so hard to find in mint condition. It isn't as much as a tear-jerker as it's meant to be but it certainly has its moments where your heart goes out for Dory (Burnett's tormented character) and her boyfriend (a wonderful British actor). I highly recommend this movie to any Burnett fan or anyone who is the parent of an adopted child or an adopted child. It's wonderful! 5/5 stars

6.Strangers starring: Linda Fiorentino, Joan Chen, Timothy Hutton, James Remar, Lambert Wilson
