Opened my eyes of my heart to the Jewish way of life with more understanding of traditions and beliefs. How I appreciate these types of filming. We need more of them.

I was thrilled to acquire this wonderful film about a great black musician. I have played his music on the piano for years, so when I first saw this movie on TV many years ago, I was ecstatic. When I finally purchased the VCR, I took it to my workplace (in this case, a men's prison) and had it shown to the inmates during "Black History week" over the prison's video system. I was proud to show a quality movie to an inmate population that was beter than 50% black. They really enjoyed and appreciated seeing the story of the King of Ragtime and many had never heard of him, so this movie certainly enriched their knowledge of this famous historical personality.

This movie doesn't have any fiery explosions and blood splattering all over walls. Just plot, well-developed characters, and an entertaining storyiine.

Some people won't like it for those reasons. Leave them to their Bruce Willis, Steven Segal, Claude van Damme, and Sylvester Stallone movies.

This is a welcome addition to our permanent video library that my wife and I both enjoy.

VHS : The Journey of Natty Gann
This is a quietly touching adult film made by Disney long before they had their Touchstone division. Meredith Salanger gives a star-making performance as a teenage girl growing up with her father during the depression. A young John Cusack has a nice turn as well, already showing the kind of quiet and surprising talent he would become known for in coming years.

Natty's father (Ray Wise) finds the only work he can during the depression and reluctantly leaves Natty with someone who turns out to have no love or compassion in her heart for anyone but herself. He has gone to Washington to cut trees and leaves a letter promising to send for her, along with a locket containing a picture of her dead mother. But when no word arrives she runs away to find him, riding the rails. Ray Wise gives a fine performance as a ... Read More

VHS : Roswell: UFO Cover Up
This is one of those rare, and virtually unknown, movies that really makes your brain fire on all cylinders. A fantastic cast that gives stunning performances, very well directed, an eerie but realistic atmosphere, and special effects that don't make you wince. Plus, it's a "true" story that portrays both sides most convincingly. This movie will please those who believe in extraterrestrial life and those who don't. Put all these elements together and you've got one helluva flick! Why the studio won't release this on DVD blows my mind. I've got an old VHS copy of it that I taped off TV...and it's nearly been played to oblivion. SEE THIS MOVIE IF YOU CAN!!!!

VHS : The Big Fix
Really hard to understand why this hasn't been released on DVD: great cast, sharp script, efficient direction, excellent mix of comedy and drama. Cast includes Fritz Weaver, Richard Dreyfuss, Bonnie Bedelia, Susan Anspach, John Lithgow, and Ron Rifkin. The film is based on a novel by Roger Simon about private investigator Moses Wine (Dreyfuss), who's a former political radical/hippie from his Berkeley college days. Set in the late 1970s, the story is of murder and corruption, with false identity thrown into the mix as well, and family squabbles to boot, plus a long lost love.

The director, Jeremy Kagan, deftly balances this mix, even managing to throw in some humor (Moses Wine's aunt is Russian and a former revolutionary; now, with a great sense of humor, she sasses back at a conservative politico and tells stories ... Read More

What a dream come true... a combination of 2 of my childhood loves - Sleeping Beauty and Christopher Reeve! Anyone who is a fan of Christopher Reeve knows that it's nearly impossible to be disappointed by any of his performances, and this is no exception. This adaptation of Sleeping Beauty is adorable and humorous, bound to be a favorite for the kids and grown ups.

VHS : Dr Quinn Medicine Woman
Dr. Quinn was my favorite TV show and I was really disappointed - and not a little shocked - when it was cancelled. So the next best thing to watching new episodes is to re-watch old episodes! This is a great opener to the series as we see Dr. Michaela Quinn leave her well-to-do life in Boston to go out West to the small town of Colorado Springs to start a new medical practice.

The quality of the video was great and I can't wait to own the first season on DVD! I hope they put all seasons out to own including the movies!
