VHS : Alien Trilogy
The Alien thrillogy was well thought out and acted out of the scrupts very well, but after part two the plot got old very quickly. It got boring as being part of the same series. The directors should make an Alien vs. Predator movie and end it all there, once and for all. Alien Ressurection was a great movie filled with action, suspense, and twist, but the plot itself is tiring.

This film opens with a submarine beneath the sea. It detects an unknown object speeding towards them. What could it be? The submarine strikes some rocks and sinks rapidly. Only a buoy marks the spot. There will be an investigation, and a civilian oil rig crew will try to rescue the USS Montana before the hurricane arrives in a few hours. The conversation introduces the people and shows their interactions. The deep diving ships locate the submarine and inspect it. Some enter the submarine to explore it. There are no survivors. One diver has a problem. A strange event occurs. The storm arrives, and mechanical troubles occur to create perils.

There is one disaster after another, and narrow escapes from floods. Will they survive in the cold when the oxygen runs low? Will a strange ... Read More

VHS : Aliens: Special Edition
This film was a staple of my youth. I was an usher in a movie theater when it was released in the '80s. The reactions I kept hearing from the crowd were amazing and now twentysomething years later it still is one of the best Sci-Fi films ever made. The DVD looks great and the sound is incredible but the special features disc is the treasure. The feature length "making of" documentary was very entertaining and informative from, casting, to set construction, to special effects and creature design it had it all. That's the kind of features I like to see not the ones where they all talk about how great working with each other was. But, to delve into character development and script writing what it took to bring James Cameron's vision to the screen, that's the good stuff. Forget all the other special ... Read More

VHS : True Lies (Spanish) (Spnp)
True Lies has long been on the Sid the Elf back-burner. It was on the list of films that must be reviewed at some point, and kind of became an emergency B. It was like the Vinny Testaverde of B, weren't too excited to use it because of the apparent clumsiness involved, but if first and second options failed, you might be ok going with it. Well, we officially went into emergency B mode this week so we went with True Lies. It turns out that we were exactly right, there was a ton of clumsiness to endure, but in the end Sid came out ok. Really, you're never in bad hands with Arnold. If Amazon had his California tourism commercials on DVD, we'd not only review them, we'd give them 5 stars. The point is, we could get a laugh or a hundred out of Arnold saying anything at all. True lies was no exception.

Great movie, great action that had me sitting on the edges. Edward Furlong was especially good, considering it was his first major movie.

VHS : James Cameron's Expedition - Bismarck
now i have not scene the dvd of this program, but i did watch its original airing, and as a WW2 buff my self. the bismarck has been something i have enjoyed learning about. as for a comment on lack of underwater footage. this program had tons of it. watch any other documentory on this great story in history and you will only see the smallest snap shots fo this battleship. on this program you will see wide sweeping shots, and finaly see thr true size with the sea born monster the truely shook the seven seas, even in its short life. and for the ambiguous answers to its demise, also very untrue. with clear imiages of the intact interior hull ins every breach, is proof, the british did not sink the bismarck.

The entire hercules movie series is an intriguing thrillfest perfectly designed to bring fun back to television. I really hope its success lures writers and producers to kill off these stupid reality shows and bring entertainment back to televison. I am forced to rent movies now that there is normally never anything compelling to watch other than cop and law shows.
