VHS : Big Doll House
At times, you don't know exactly how silly this is supposed to be, and the whole film has a tone of naivety in spite of its run of sex and violence (with drug addiction thrown in for good measure). The plot couldn't be more simple: a group of women in prison, led by the resourceful Collier (top-billed Judy Brown), plan an escape. Inside snitch Grear (Pam Grier in her first speaking film role) slips information back and forth to the guards and the evil warden, Ms. Dietrich (a hilarious Christiane Schmidtmer, best remembered for The Giant Spider Invasion), in order to get smack for her lesbian lover cellmate. Guards torment and molest prisoners. Prisoners get naked (though not as much as you'd expect for this genre). One evil head guard, Lucian (Kathryn Lodern, the quasi-Bette Davis villainess ... VHS : Swinging Cheerleaders Collector's Edition
I saw this film as part of a Cheerleader triple feature with my husband, then boyfriend at the local drive-in theater. It was the only film to have a plot and to hold my interest. In addition, it had a talented cast, my favorites being Colleen Camp and Rainbeaux Smith. The story is not deep, but then again, this movie doesn't pretend to make a big political statement or address social issues. It is just mindless campy fun from the 1970's, with some sex thrown in. It reminds me of an adult cartoon, and has been referred to by Director Jack Hill as a "Disney Sex Comedy." The picture quality is excellent and crisp, which really brings out the cartoonish, artificial look of the sets. (Jack Hill shot this film in 12 days, so you're not looking at a big budget production.) The men's feathered haircuts ... Read More

My husband loves this movie. Any NASCAR or race fan should watch this. Kind of quirky but I think that's what he loves about it.It's in his top 5 favorites.

VHS : Big Bird Cage
Toning things down a bit from Big Doll House, Hill returned to his old stomping grounds the following year to make The Big Bird Cage, essentially a spoof of the WIP genre. If you don't take it too seriously and can handle a few sudden 180-degree mood swings, it's one of the most entertaining and certainly best-made women's prison movies of the 1970's. Somewhere on a dictatorially reigned tropical island, American actress Terry (Anita Ford) is taken hostage by revolutionary Django (Sid Haig), when he pulls of a heist on a bar with his girlfriend Blossom (Pam Grier) and other fellow revolutionaries. While on the run from the police, Django leaves Terry back, who is mistaken for his female accomplice and brought to a jungle prison camp for women...

Anitra Ford is the token heroine, but Pam ... Read More

5.Sorceress starring: Leigh Harris, Lynnette Harris

VHS : Sorceress
I enjoyed this movie mainly for Leigh and Lynette Harris' action scenes, which they perform very well. There are some good sequences with pro-wrestling-type moves, and the stars do most of their own stunts. Very interesting compared to the run of the mill in this or in any action movie genre. So I give Sorceress 4 stars, even though in other aspects it is mediocre. Hopefully it will be released on DVD someday.

I picked this up because I've always admired Pam Grier. For many years, even now one of the sexiest, most stunning women in films. This has always been my fav of her early films. Now that I own it I like it even better. The image and sound quality of the DVD are top-notch. Not blurred and scratchy like many films from the old American International library. The twenty five year old Pam takes your breath away in every scene. A big surprise for me was the commentary from director Jack Hill who like many film makers of the 70s came under harsh criticism for making the so called blaxplotation movies.(the films were accused of negatively portraying afro-americans,and targeting black audiences when they were largely produced, directed and written by whites.) Mr. Hill's informative comments gave me a new understanding ... Read More

WHOA! The hottest of the hot. It's Coffy!

Blistering action, unbridled suspense, nerve-wracking energy, and an abundance of beautiful barenaked ladies. What more can you ask for?

Tough as nails, mad as a hornet, and as sexy as yours truly, Coffy embarks on a chaotic estrogen-erupting revenge rampage after some drug pushers dope up her little sister.

Film god/geek Quentin Tarantino calls this "one of the most entertaining movies ever made". He ain't B.S.'n. This movie rules!

Shootouts, catfights, car chases...there is NEVER a dull moment. Oh and some guys like a surplus of female nudity. Believe me, you won't be let down. Plus this has Sid Haig! Not that he overshadows the Queen of Soul Cinema. She is electric. And voluptuous. And bad news for the bad guys. ... Read More

Ahhhhh, yes "Switchblade Sisters", let me see if I can classify this movie: IT'S ONE OF THOSE MOVIES THAT IS SO UTTERLY BAD, THE ACTING IS SO OUT THERE BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, IT'S ENTERTAINING ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN SIT THERE AND ENJOY IT!.
This is another one of my classic VHS to DVD transfer purchases, I've had this movie on VHS for so long, I just had to have it on DVD. My girlfriend even sat and watched it with me and the funny part is that movies that she has watched with me that were 10 times better than this one was, she fell asleep for, this one, she stayed awake to watch it and when the credits were rolling at the end of the movie, she uttered that now famous quote you saw up in the title of my review.

On a serious note?, the acting is nothing to write home to Mom about but Quentin Tarentino had ... Read More

My god....this is a cult classic film that I just accidently happened to stumble upon. Without this film there would be no devils rejects, no texas Chainsaw massacre, no rocky horror picture show, not to mention a load of other films. This film is funny....it's more darkly comic than anything else. It should not be taken seriously, and yet there are some truly terrifying moments. Excellent, really excellent. such a shame Jill Banner died at such a young age...she had the makings of a terrific actress.
