I wouldn't go out of my way for this if I wasn't a Bond completist, but NSNA seems to me to be a fair-to-middling Bond outing that compares favorably to its contemporary (1983) 'official' competition, OCTOPUSSY. Despite a low budget the film doesn't feel cheap, the recycled plot is one of the better ones, and Connery, although hamming it up a bit as a middle-aged superspy, is still everybody's favorite Bond.

If you're comparing this to the early Connery, or even the Pierce Brosnan period, forget it - done at the height (depth?) of the Roger Moore period, NSNA is full of tongue-in-cheek, but handled better, IMHO, than the corny Moore scripts. Q-Algy was less overdone than John Cleese, though James Fox's "M" dialogue was sometimes a bit too over-the-top, Barbara Carrera had to ... Read More

It's a good movie and definitely a great story. Anytime folks stand up to evil and prevail, it deserves an applaud. This is a true story of terrorist kidnapping of a passenger airliner and holding them hostage trying to get them exchanged for release of imprisoned terrorists. The Israeli special forces go to work and pull off a stunning rescue with minimal casualties on their side. It only briefly mentions the aftermath in closing credits, but I think it deserves greater attention. Specifically the killing of the innocent hostage who was transported into a Ugandan hospital prior to the rescue as well as firing of the Air France pilot/captain who stayed behind with his passengers. In today's world, these are issue that need more attention.

There are some great actors in this movie. I ... Read More

Truly worth sh..

My VHS tape is far superior in "roundness" of image and even the main titles are clearer.

Do you want to know something more? Even the sound is better on tape!!!!

The funny thing though, is that both are sons of the same father...

Yes indeed, the Widescreen Tape and the DVD are both produced by MGM/UA and yet the quality of the DVD is grainy and the image flickers at times. The sound on the DVD comes and goes as it pleases, and this throughout the movie.

The tape is far superior. It has no disturbances whatsoever, even though the picture is a bit unfocused. Yet the sound is perfect and clear.

So, why is this?

Couldn't they find a new roll of film to slam onto a DVD?
Or where they to lazy even to look for a copy and decided that the ... Read More
