Same set of characters over the same weekend at the same British country house. Each play takes place in one of the rooms with the characters coming and going between the plays. TNC had runs in London and NY where you saw the 3 plays on any 3 consecutive nights. A gimic - sure. The genius comes in the wonderful, funny writing where the full story and the full understanding of the characters and their relationships blossom with each play. Your understanding of even simple plot points evolves when you see the other plays and what went on in the other rooms leading up to and following the plot points. See it if you are a fan of britcoms. Marvellous cast at the top of their form.

If you are a fan of the film " The Name of the Rose", you will love Brother Cadfael The monk is part Father Brown with Sherlock Holmes. He solves crimes the medievel way and the way he does it will intrigue mystery lovers everywhere. Derek Jacobi bring an aire of class to Cadfael. He brings the character off the page of the Peter's novels with ease I recieved this as a very early Christmas gift from a friend going to Europe for a few months, thanks Dan for the gift..it is a great addition to my DVD Mystery library and it will fit in any of yours. Also all disks have Jacobi audio commaries on all three shows in this collection..worth it for that alone Bennet Pomerantz AUDIOWORLD

The empathy and outrage the viewer feels on behalf of the embattled mathmetician finds its equal in the awe for his intellect that the solution of the enigma ciphers merits. Much like Prick Up Your Ears, this film shows up societal prejudice and how damaging it can be in the face of true creative genius.

This 1974 made for TV movie stars Richard Burton as Winston Churchill. This is the first film titled "The Gathering Storm" another film was later released with the same title. They are both UK/US co-productions. I believe this film with Burton to be superior mostly because of his performance of the British leader. It was also known as "A Walk with Destiny". It played on British BBC TV and on ABC here in the US. However, this film is NOT available yet on DVD. I don't believe either here or in the UK. The feature is 72mins long and well worth viewing for either biography buffs or used as an educational tool in class. The Gathering Storm chronicles the days of Churchill prior to WWII. This VHS tape of the first part of Norman Conquests is an excellent play, very well written and well acted. It is unfortunate that it is only available in VHS and not DVD but I was still pleased to be able to get it. The play is hilarious and well worth watching.
