VHS : Roots 6 Video Box Set
Perhaps the most famous TV miniseries of all time. Played for eight straight evenings in January of 1977. The country practically came to a halt during that time slot every evening. Over 130 million views tuned in to watch this amazing story of Alex Haley's family's roots and history. It has been translated into 28 languages since. While the story and technology may seem a little outdated today (how can it not?), this is one story worth watching to gain a better understanding our country's history and where we have come from. In many ways it is the story of our nation from the days of slavery through the great struggles for freedom for all. Kunta Kinte is the main character who was captured and forced into slavery as a young man and brought to America. Perhaps the most poignant moment in the ... Read More

VHS : The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh
Growing up in the 1970's, times were great. Big Wheels and Green Machines. Bomb Pops to Italian Ice. Mr. Softee and those amazing soft serve ice cream cones with sprinkles. Metal roller skates and banana seat bicycles. But nothing speaks more of the 70's than the movie, "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh". In a time when things were more simple, The Fish, told a tale of a basketball team who needed a miracle, a found in the cards or should I say Psychic. Needless to say the moral of the story is about beliefs. It's OK to have beliefs in other things as along as you believe in yourself first. Now that I live in Atlanta, finding this great comedic tale was certainly an excellent find. "The Fish" reminds me of those summer days and simpler times, yet again saving me from what's going in the world today, if only ... Read More

VHS : Ghostwriter: Ghost Story
In a world awash with unimaginative children's programming, inappropriate dialog, and overly disciplined rules, one show stood out above the rest. "Ghostwriter" fans will always remember the diverse team of kids who ran around Brooklyn cracking codes and solving mysteries. Some people have teased the show for its early 90's look of colorful outfits, trendy headgear, mild rap music, and brief introduction to the internet. But the show didn't reek of ignorance like some programs of today. The kids were hip in their time but the messages are timeless. While the Ghostwriter team worked on solving mysteries, they also learned about environmentalism, drug abuse, violence, war remembrance, and family feuds.

So who IS Ghostwriter? We don't know. In this pilot episode, a ghost suddenly pops out of a book ... Read More

Coming up in the 70's myself, it really hit home for me. I came up in Third Ward, one of the urban areas of Houston, Texas. And let me tell you that Mr. Roscoe Orman, is a actor before his time. He should do a sequel, but not as the pimp but as what Mr. Orman, is doing now. He is educating our children. If he has been in any other movies let me know. [...]
