Here we go again. Another star wars movie with a twist...its animated. I am not a avid star wars fan, however, I have seen the new trilogy not the old one. I was excited to finally see this movie and I wasn't disappointed. The plot was simplistic at best and wasn't bombarded with idle chit-chat. It was a thrill ride from beginning to end, I don't care about the naysayers have to say. I felt that the movie was fresh, a nice change of pace, amazing feature film. The action never stifled or faltered it kept up with the film. The relationship between Anakin and the padawan was incredibly deep and moving. I felt a connection and was rewarded. If you are a crazed star wars fan you will nick pick this movie to death. Watch this movie because it was to the point and filled with action. I recommend ... Read More

Its time people realize somthing important. When George Lucas sat down to write star wars in the early 1970's he wrote episodes 1-6. Not 4-6, 1-3 but ALL six!!! He couldn't make a movie that long. So he came up with the story from ep 4 because he felt it was the best part for the time. It was the greatest film of all time. He did not expect it to do that well. He was exhausted from working on it, and vowed never to direct again, which is why he did not direct ep 5 and ep 6. However, years went by, and so did the technology (which his company developed!! ILM) which became CG. Now that it existed, he could tell the story he wanted to tell- ep 1-3. BY KNOCKING THIS MOVIE YOU ARE KNOCKING LUCAS HIMSELF!! Its his baby. NOW PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, get over Jar-Jar!! I was frankly blown away by the lightsaber ... Read More

I am also perplexed at the many whining reviews of this DVD set. I understand that LucasFilm had originally said that they would never release the original theatrical release on DVD, but they did, and we should be thankful, even if it isn't "perfect." All the whining isn't going to persuade Mr. Lucas to restore the original to modern-day brilliance. I think it adds a bit of charm to the set. Like an old-time movie, which it is becoming, and plot changes or significant editing to the story-lines are not always good, but Mr. Lucas does have a right to edit his movies as he sees fit. And again: MR. LUCAS DID NOT HAVE TO RELEASE THE ORIGINAL, UNEDITED TRILOGY. I'm just thankful that they released the original with English subtitles.

VHS : THX 1138
THX 1138 was a very interesting film made by George Lukas back in 1970. It was visually exciting, a bit cerebral and required some real effort to follow. I saw this film one Saturday night in 1970 and it failed to interest my date as well as most of the other people in the audience. It struck a note with my own interests and managed to score about 3 stars in my book.

In fact a large percent of the Connecticut audience walked out on this movie which described a future in which drug use was state supported and evasion was a felony. A bleak future was projected by this movie as all citizens wore the same white colored clothes and mindless consumerism was a state sponsored virtue. Robots were included in this nightmarish vision of the future working as public servants in the form of police officers. ... Read More

I have to admit that I didn't like this film the first time I watched it as I didn't really appreciate the documentary style layout and it seemed a little slow to develop. Now that I've seen it again after a few years, I've actually come to like this a lot as I realise that this is a very unique film with a very good storyline and good acting as well as it describes the lives of High School graduates/dropouts and their very real sense of loss having to leave the safe/secure comfort zone of school to face the real world with all its uncertainty and callousness.

One character actually manages to take the leap albeit with great reluctance and after great difficulty soul-searching while another doesn't quite make it at least yet. I can actually see myself returning to this film again in the future as I get the feeling ... Read More
