VHS : Les Miserables - The Dream Cast in Concert
I've always wanted to see this musical live ever since I read the book, but this video was just as good and cheaper. The last portion when Valjean's character played by all the international cast sing together was absolutely breathtaking.

VHS : Queen: Live at Wembley '86
Excellent performance! Queen plays a lot of their hits, including my faves of theirs: Bohemian(sp) Rhapsody, and We are the Champions. Freddie also sings a few hits by other stars, such as an Elvis Presley song, and one of Rickie Nelson's. I must say that they may even be better than the originals. I was a little disappointed that Queen did not sing their song "You're My Best Friend." But, that is a minor point. The songs and performance are wonderful...and I play the DVD frequently. The world really lost an amazing man and an excellent performer when Freddie Mercury passed away. Definitely a five star performance: All Queen fans will surely love this DVD. I know I do!

VHS : 24 Nights
First things first. I'm not the only one who ever saw Clapton, but I've seen a lot of concerts. I saw this show in New York. He played so long that we left (some had to work the next day) but his guitar playing wasn't good, great or fantastic. It was simply mesmerizing. He played for four hours (from what I could gather).

But for a DVD (or live cd) I suppose the artist has to fit some format (like keep each song under 15 minutes) for it to be packaged right for sale. Most live shows are "cut", I'm sure the artist knows they are filming for a recording and things have to be kept tight.

"24 Nights" is as close to a live Clapton show you will ever see. The DVD shows him playing. A lot of close up solo work--which , let's face it, is why you go to see Clapton! There ... Read More

VHS : U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky
This concert at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre was a defining moment in U2's history. Everything about it was just at the right time. It was 1983 and the War album was riding the charts...MTV showed an abridged version of their set, and now a full 25 years later the entire concert is available at last on DVD. The picture quality is super, though it revelas a few of the technological flaws of video back then...there is the inevitable trail from some of the lights that looks like wires across the sky, but that does very little to detract from what this show was all about: the music. Their energy, their presence (and how young they looked) and the fact that they added 5 more songs to the originally aired program make this package well worth the long wait. I hadn't realized this hadn't been released on ... Read More

VHS : U2 - The Best of - 1980-1990
Decent compilation, featuring most of their 80's classics, but what is simply unforgivable is not including the whole video stuff from 80's. 'Gloria', 'A Celebration', 'Two Hearts Beat As One', 'A Sort Of Homecoming', 'Bad' (the old video, not the well known Rattle & Hum Version - you can watch it on www.poplemon.com), 'Spanish Eyes', 'Red Hill Minning Town', 'In God's Country' and 'Night And Day' are missing.

For Worse, we must keep watching the same used footage from Rattle & Hum. 'Bad' and 'When Love Comes To Town' were taken from that movie. Didn't they have another filmed version of that songs?. Shame on U2 for keep going with the same stuff again and again. It would be so exciting to watching hidden footage of those songs.

Rumors say they're going to release a DVD ... Read More
