VHS : Blind Faith
Of all the dozens of excellent films I have in my collection on VHS, this remains the film I would most like to see transferred to DVD. What a gem!

When I originally purchased it without knowing a thing about it, I was slightly intrigued by the fact that the synopsis on the video box makes the film sound like a gritty suspense thriller, one of my favorite genres. The plot sounded interesting - a young black student is accused of murdering a white teen in NYC during the 1950's. OK, sounds like an intriguing piece of drama, I'll take it. So I took it home and was utterly blown away. One plot twist after another, fantastic acting, and a surprise theme about homophobia (which turns out to be the main point of the film) kept me riveted to my seat for the entire film.

VHS : Bulletproof
Ok, call me a prude. I'm sure someone will. But I spent 15 years in the US Navy so that label ain't gonna stick. It just seemed like you couldn't go 2 minutes without somebody proving they knew how to say the word over and over and over. There is no way you would ever want to watch this movie in mixed company, IMHO. Watch the TV version. They sanitize it. Ok, about the movie itself, getting past the gratuitous language, it's not half bad. Other people will give a synopsis of the movie which I won't bother repeating. Petty crook Sandler becomes good buddies with (unknown to him) undercover cop Wayans who has to betray the friendship and bust Sandler. Sandler accidentally shoots him (in the head ... ouch!) but he recovers. They both wind up on the run and reestablish the trust and friendship ... Read More

Movie started out cheesy with jewish writer trying to get "real" by living in slums and getting close to black culture. Other than the poorly acted writer role, the rest of the movie is similar to what happens in ghettos all over America. Very good, if you are interested in social work, psychology. Dont bother to scare your kids with this one; in fact, it would probably encourage them.

VHS : Tales From Crypt: Demon Knight
William Sadler stars in the first full length movie from "TALES FROM THE CRYPT - DEMON NIGHT"
He plays a guy runnin from Billy Zane who plays the evil collector who is trying to take away a container that holds blood all the back to Christ.
When you poor the blood on a certain area it put a barrier between them and the demons.
The demons can't cross the barrier or it will kill them.
If you remember William Sadler actually stared in one of the first "TALES FROM THE CRYPT" when it was airing on HBO.
And Billy Zane stared in the very popular "TITANIC".
William & Billy played their rolls well in this movie.
I rate this movie 8 from 1to10!!

Desperate Housewives meets The Jeffersons meets Crash

This is a movie you'd only watch in order to provoke a discussion about race and society and ambition, and since it's set in the past, even that discussion is of limited value. It isn't a well-told story, the plot jumps from vignette to vignette without a clear connection. Gradually you 'get' what's going on but the story is never fleshed out. It's more a series of snapshots that you're left to fill in the blank spaces between.

As others noted, the description on the back of the DVD case is totally off the mark - this movie is not at all funny or a comedy unless you like making fun of people with narrow stereotypical caricatures. I did not laugh once. Good Fences (a complete misnomer of a title, there are no fences in the movie, but I'm ... Read More
