VHS : Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Fete of Death
At or, at least, near the top of the list of the scariest movies I have ever seen, this is the first and by far the best version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." Don Siegel's direction is sparse and pulls no punches. It is aided by a tense score, but it's the story more than anything else that stands out in this film.

Paranoia is rampant throughout this terrifying sci-fi tale. The scariest scene occurs when Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter, who are the only two humans left in Santa Mira, flee the pod people and take refuge in an abandoned mine just outside of town. Hidden under some wooden planks that cover a trench that they are lying in, McCarthy and Wynter successfully evade their pursuers. Later, after the pod people have left the cave, McCarthy relaxes ... VHS : Hell Is for Heroes
Steve in fine form as a rugged loner trapped by Germans with a few of his fellow dogfaces. More like a tv show than a movie because of the cheap set and low-budget look of the whole film it manages to sail along holding one's interest with lots of dramatic interest by scenery-chewers like Bob Newhart doing a long comedy shtick somewhat peculiarly in the middle of the film. This movie did a lot of good for McQueen's career and helped cement its status as a classic of the genre.

7.Madigan starring: Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, Inger Stevens, Harry Guardino, James Whitmore

VHS : Madigan
Before he directed "Dirty Harry", the late Don Siegel made this gritty New York City thriller about a maverick cop(the late Richard Widmark) who along with his partner (Harry Guardino) loses their guns to a psychopathetic killer. In contrast to "Harry", "Madigan" focuses on the lives of the various people in the Police Department, the Commissioner (Henry Fonda), Madigan's troubled marriage, a corrupt veteran cop (James Whitmore), and of course the pursuit of the killer interwined with the various subplots. It plays almost like a police soap opera but a fine cast of pros (Widmark, Fonda, Whitmore) bring it to life. According to sources, Fonda was particularly displeased that the movie focused more on the maverick cop than his character, nevertheless the film proved to be a hit commercially and critically ... 9.Escape from Alcatraz starring: Clint Eastwood, Patrick McGoohan, Roberts Blossom, Jack Thibeau, Fred Ward
directed by: Don Siegel

VHS : Escape from Alcatraz
This film based on a true incident involving the last successful escape from Alcatraz was the last colloboration between Clint Eastwood and Don Siegel and the result is a winner!! Tightly directed by Siegel in a semi-documentary style, Eastwood is perfectly cast as the lone mastermind behind the escape but before that occurs we are treated to the oppressive treatment of the convicts as adminstred by cruel, sadistic warden, excellently played by Patrick McGoohan. In fact the scenes between McGoohan and Eastwood are perfectly played and an able supporting cast led by Roberts Blossom, Larry Hankin, and in a minor role, Danny Glover help out also. If you like prison dramas in the mode of "Brute Force" or Siegel's "Riot in Cell Block 11" (another classic of its kind) then you'll like this one.

10.Death of a Gunfighter (1987) starring: Richard Widmark, Lena Horne, Carroll O'Connor, David Opatoshu, Kent Smith
