VHS : I Come in Peace
Essentially, "I Come In Peace" (aka "Dark Angel") is a great idea that was only moderately well exectued. With the exception of appearing in a religious drama, this is probably the strangest vehicle for action hero Dolph Lundgren to get himself over, and to some degree, the Swedish Superman makes it work, but even along with the passing performances of the rest of the cast and a pretty original bad guy, "Peace" ends up being forgettable due to its uninspired pacing and overall lack of action.

Jack Caine (Lundgren) is a vice cop who's earned himself notoriety for doing things his way, much to the dislike of the department. After being assigned a by-the-book partner whom he frequently finds himself at odds with (Brian Benben, "Radioland Murders"), Caine's personal war on Houston's ... Read More

VHS : Left Behind - World At War
Bottom line .. I found watching this a second time cured my aches from the first attempt. Just so you know, I grew up in church and have a strong faith which will never die. I really like and support Cameron for his faith journey and getting Lou Gosset Jr. involved was a coup. Besides, I"m a fan of the books so I'm certainly a reasonable source for constructive criticism.

The first time watching the movie it seemed this was more of a sermon and testimony then an action/drama/thriller with an underlying testimony the books were meant to be. I found myself distracted with so much emphasis on testimony since I already have a strong faith.

So, I watched it again after walking away for a little bit. The second time I really liked the movie. I enjoyed seeing the original actors ... Read More

tom berenger brings great strenth to this role and this film about a little known sect of the morman faith, the danites,or avenging angels,as they were called. these men were recruited and trained as bodyguards for brigham young and as protecters of the mormans against the pursecuters of their faith.
as miles utley, berenger is great and really draws you into the plot. iseems that to some mr. utley does his job to well and they want him banished,as this is going on he discovers a plot to kill brigham young(played flawlessly by screen great charlton heston)and sets out to stop it. along for the ride is james coburn as utley's friend and mentor! the whole thing is great western fun and action packed! so sit back and enjoy this fun and exciteing movie!

Obviously "Boz" hasn't made a career in movies any more than Howie Long did, but I love their movies. I personally think movies like this are just fun. Now granted the guys will probably like them better as their is lots of T&A in this one, but the acting isn't bad, and the sets and music are good. Brian Bosworth plays a cop on suspension that is coerced by the FBI to go undercover and join a biker gang to take them down. Lance Henriksen and William Forsyth do a good job of playing the bad guys. Having rode with the Salty Dawgs many many years ago and knowing other clubs I have to say this is fairly realistic biker movie. The meet in the movie reminded me of one of the barbeques I went to when I rode. The statement "Colors never run", is a code with all bikers and a fellow biker saved my life once so ... Read More

VHS : Stephen King's Storm of the Century
For me, there's a definite irony attached to this project, as far as King is concerned. Most of his novels have not been very well adapted to the big screen (or small screen) during his long career. This likely has more to do with those who try to direct, produce, and adapt King's work than with the source-work itself. Even "Carrie," "Misery," and Kubrick's "The Shining" (the best adaptations of his material, so far) were not quite as good as the books. As a longtime King admirer, it's been a bit of a frustration to see film-versions of his work consistently fail to dazzle.

With 'Storm of the Century,' however, we have a story from the mind of King that is extremely effective and resonant onscreen...BUT HE DIDN'T WRITE IT IN NOVEL-FORM! Hence the irony. This is one bit of King's imagination ... Read More

Rose Red
'Rose Red' was a good story without all the spooks and goblins of Halloween.
The placement of the story, and it's surroundings, looked more realistic and less ridiculess (unbelieveable) than most spook movies. I enjoyed it.

VHS : Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
A very strange story in this film. A story that does not look like Stephen King's traditional stories. Many things are different from what he has ever produced. Strangely enough it comes after the film "Rose Red" that is posterior in story time. This story is thus a prequel to the previously shot one. The element that is typically Kingian is the haunted house with some connection to Indians behind. But that is all. The story itself is some kind of distorted and warped "Gone with the Wind" in a setting that looks like and sounds like a Victorian house from England's 19th century, the Bronte Sisters maybe. The main character, Ellen Rimbauer herself is more like one of these feminine characters from this English literary period. Little to do with Stephen King's social approach and even historical time. There is even ... Read More

This is one unique movie. I'm slowly becoming a fan Argento and this is so far my favorite of his films, though it should be noted that I have not yet seen all his films. There's so much visual style one can't help but be swept along. The story is also quite good which is not the case for some of his films. There are several gory scenes which are masterfully well done and the film's atmosphere is eerie and solid throughout. Argento is aided heavily by Goblin's music which is really good particularly in "Suspira".

In here we have David Hemmings plays a jazz musician who witnesses a murder and starts investigating the crime himself. A little bit of Hitchcock here but Argento creates a unique style that's all his. Basically that's a murder mystery with a touch of gore in it. I would not call this movie a ... Read More
