VHS : Murder by Decree
So it isn't the most original idea out there for Sherlock Holmes to attempt to solve the case of the infamous murders committed by Jack The Ripper. At least one other film (A Study In Terror) and several books have (had) been written along those lines so the storyline could have been predictable. Yet Murder By Decree rises above what could have been a tired and predictable story to deliver perhaps the best non-Doyle based Holmes film. It is a must-see for fans of Holmes and does supply an interesting solution (pardon the pun) to the mystery of the Ripper.

Christopher Plummer gives an exceptional performance as the great detective. Whereas others had played Holmes as the intellectual with little emotion, Plummer takes Holmes and makes him more human. While he is still the intelligent ... Read More

This is such a perfect portrait of people I have known who have built emotional moats around their castle of humanity....
Lemmon's character is commited to having no commitment...So busy loving the world he is unable to totally love those who to whom he is closest.
Watch this film with friends and I guarentee you will have one of the greatest discussions you have ever had about all of the implications...A totally human film
Great Song by Barry Manlow heard over the credits sums up the whole idea of the film...

VHS : My Summer Story
Ralph Parker is the 10-year-old Indiana boy you may remember from a little film called "A Christmas Story". Well, from his following summer comes "My Summer Story", the tale of Ralph's search for the ultimate killer top to defeat the new head bully, Lug Ditka, the Old Man's war with their hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses, Mom's gravy boat incident at the Orpheum Theater, a trip to the World Exposition, and that all-important first summer of fishing with the Old Man and his buddies.

Before I get into assessing "My Summer Story", class, does everyone here realize that Ralph Parker and his family "existed" well before the American holiday favorite, "A Christmas Story"? To date, there have, in fact, been 6 films about Ralphie, Randy, Mom, the Old Man, Flick Schwartz, and company. Three of them ... Read More

I saw this movie about 8 or 10 years ago and I thought it was absolutely hilarious! I found it on DVD and for a great price!

The only reason I can think that it bombed in the box office is because no one wanted to see Sly in a comedy; it was all about 'Rocky' and 'Rambo'. And what the heck is he doing making a film with Dolly Parton, right? Well, I would recommend this movie to anyone who has a sense of humor. Yes, it's an 80's flick, but still, it is full of hilarity!

This is a truly funny movie. I mean, Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd were absolutely great in this film. They make a great team in this movie. Basically one plays a cop, who doesn't have a home. The other plays a cops who's brilliant at his job, but suffers from split personality disorder. They are both teamed together to solve a murder which revolves around a mysterous film connected to Hilter's death. The critic's blew it again, with this film. Dan Aykroyd was actually quite good in this film. He played his character very well. So, did Gene Hackman. This is a very enjoyable film.

This is a precious story of boys in California during WWII who catch a "prisioner of war".

I believe it is based on facts.

Enjoyable for the whole family.

VHS : Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (Spec Dol)
The one star reviewers are 100% correct. This "movie" is horrendous! The first movie stunk like government cheese so it should be of no surprise that this sequel stinks. The so-called plot revolves around some evil media mogul named Biscane(played by Jon Voight)with some wacky scheme revolving around mind control on kids through the TV screen. The baby "geniuses headed by Kahuna plan to take on Biscane and cheesy hijinks ensue. The plot is horrible and the acting is just as bad. Scott Baio should have bowed out gracefully since Charles In Charge went of the air but no he chose to be here. Jon Voight usually shines even when he is in a bad movie(for instance Anaconda) but here he is reduced to a total ham who acts like he is on freebase. The jokes are why-did-the-chicken-cross-the-road corny but it seems that the director ... Read More

I first saw this movie when it came out and it is still funny. Some of the moments are classic; i.e. paging Mike Hunt, Kim Catrall, shower scene, etc... Much better than the two sequels.

VHS : Children Shouldn't Play With Dead
A VERY dated movie that SCREAMS 70's DISCO fashion!!! The acting is pretty bad,the pace is slow, but the story is decent overall. It would be 1000 times better if it were remade with some decent actors, better special effects, and a little more action.

Overall, it is entertaining, but if you can rent it on netflix instead of buying..... DO SO!
