VHS : Bubblegum Crisis 1
I'll admit, I just started sampling anime from the Mecha genre, and I don't really have a lot of experience with it. However, I've been watching anime for a long time, so I have a lot to compare this to. I was born in 1982, and I have a pretty good understanding of 80's culture, so I had the capacity to appreciate this series while overlooking some of its outmoded gimmicks. I'll list the flaws of this DVD numerically.

1. The dubbing is terrible. The english version of the singing is god-awful, and the male voices are just bad in general. When the female cast is speaking, it's passable. However, you may be asking why I don't just use the subtitles, but that brings me to my next criticism.

2. The combat is not conducted well, and that's why I can't use subtitles. Let ... Read More

VHS : Sailor Moon Super S - Mina's Rescue (Uncut)
I always order my Sailor Moon videos uncut and dubbed for three reasons - 1)I'm better aquainted with the dub version, 2)uncut makes it better quality anime, and 3)most or all of the cut scenes are not bad! They were just taken out for time. Anyway, these episodes were just fine in my opinion.

Episode 1 - A man named Yoshiku Usui lacks inspiration for his clothing designs. He later meets Fish Eye and hires him/her as the head of his buisiness. However, he is later attacked and must be defended from Fish Eye and her lemures/remluss, Sealion. After the battle, Usui is inspired by Serena's Sailor suit and bases his whole new line of clothing on that design.

Episode 2 - Mina is dating two men at once, who just happen to be both Hawk's Eye nd Tiger's Eye! She is later found out ... Read More

VHS : Patlabor - Original Series Collection
They've finally released a box set of the three volumes of Patlabor: The Original Series. Note that this review may not be as accurate as others, because I have only watched the first two volumes, and unless the third volume is a flop, then this rating should still stand. I am hoping to order the whole one soon. Now on to the review:

Volume 1: The first three episodes were fantastic and really get you into the spirit of Patlabor OS. The first episode introduces the main characters of Special Vehicles Unit 2 and their first mission: to stop a runaway labor vehicle.

Volume 2: The episode with the monster is the worst one yet. The whole episode ends with pretty much nothing happening. But... the next episode is amazing!

Unfortunately, the publishing company wants your ... Read More

VHS : Super Deformed Double Feature (Scramble Wars / 10 Little Gall Force)
This one will mostly appeal to serious anime fans (particularly those who've seen Gall Force,) although there are some jokes that everyone will like. The first animated film is called 10 Little Gall Force and is about the making of the Gall Force movie. That is to say, it depics the animated charecters as real actors and the mistakes they make during the filming. This is actually much more fun than is sounds. Those who've seen GF may remember Lufa, a rather butch female fighter pilot. Here we see here in very girlish clothing and riding in a limo, and when traffic prevents her from getting to the set on time, she has her driver activate mechanical arms with which to toss other cars out of the way.

After this we cut to a live action interveiw with the japanese film maker. Some may find this interesting, ... Read More

VHS : Patlabor - Mobile Police Series (Vol. 1)
Okay. Volume 1. It opens with Labor (giant robot) negotiation (a drunk driver!) between the Toyko Metro Police Special Vehicles Section 2, Division 2 (damn, that's a long name!) and a civilan labor pilot. Eventually, we meet Izumi Noa, a Patlabor (Patrol Labor) pilot wannabe racing to her final exam when someone steals the new model 98-AV Ingram!! Noa chases after it on a motercycle, then in a patrol car, then she jumps onto the truck! Then she whoops some butt!

And THAT was just episode one! A rather same series for about ages 10+, the worst it gets is some cursing and minor adult humor, PATLABOR TV Volume 1 is an anime classic!

8.Don't Leave Me Alone Daisy 3 (Sub) starring: Yasufumi Hayashi, Kisa Iinuma, Sumi Shimamoto, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Katsuaki Arima
directed by: Yûji Mutou
